This could go in many threads. This one is as good as any. Trump just spoke about the "phony emoluments clause."
JUST IN: US Supreme Court strikes down Michigan gerrymandering ruling; a lower court deemed the Republican plan too "partisan" because state voters would not be accurately represented. https://t.co/gsZK8l8u8W— MSNBC (@MSNBC) October 21, 2019
They had ruled as so back in June (Maryland?) so probably just an administrative ruling. Basically they have to sue in state courts not in federal courts.
Too many threads where posters are allowed to just repost a tweet with little to no explanation. If I wanted to read twitter I would open that app.
That's like if somebody posted an article from the New York Times and you responded "If I wanted to read the NYT I'd go to their website." The point isn't the mode of delivery, it's the content. Personally I have no desire to scroll through Twitter, but I do appreciate seeing the filtered content here. And anything I don't...I ignore.
#BREAKING: Senate GOP blocks three election security bills for second day https://t.co/1wYX2tzAwW pic.twitter.com/Ifr3JlJosx— The Hill (@thehill) October 23, 2019
Let's see. The Republicans in my office deny that their party benefits from foreign interference. That's a Democratic fabrication .... a partisan claim. Then when the Democrats float proposals aimed at preventing foreign interference, Republican block those proposals at every turn. One side is crazy, not both. And that crazy side isn't mine.
Rick Wiles warns that if Trump is removed from office, veterans, cowboys, mountain men, and "guys that know how to fight" will hunt down Democrats and kill them. https://t.co/jhIWqIiLIP pic.twitter.com/oQDCJVZ6Jg— Right Wing Watch (@RightWingWatch) October 23, 2019
Never heard of Rick Wiles. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Wiles Views Wiles has promoted various conspiracy theories. He believes there will be a world war with China and has stated that China is training its civilian population in naval warfare.[8] Wiles also promoted anti-semitic conspiracy theories of Jewish world domination when discussing the 2019 AIPAC conference.[9] Wiles has asserted that the effects of Hurricane Harvey upon the city of Houston, Texas resulted from Houston's "'LGBT devotion'"; has described Judaism and Islam as "the Antichrist"; has called Central American immigrants a "'brown invasion'" being used by God to punish American whites because of abortion; has claimed that the Las Vegas massacre was conducted by government death squads; has asserted that Antonin Scalia was murdered; and, in July 2018, predicted an imminent coup that would result in the nationally televised decapitation of the Trump family on the White House lawn.[10][11]
You aren't supposed to be posting entire articles from any posted media according to the TOS, but in the excerpts people do post there is at least a bit of discussion or comment on what is being posted. I'm sure I can find twitter posts that support just about anything and then dump them in here with no comment.
I’m curious what the difference is between literotica and erotica, but no way in hell am I doing research on the internet.
Senate rigging it... News of the weird: On Senate floor Sen. Blackburn objected to passage of my election security bills saying they have to go through Rules committee. Here’s the weird (sad) part: A committee mark-up was scheduled on the bipartisan bill & the White House made calls to stop it.— Amy Klobuchar (@amyklobuchar) October 23, 2019
Literotica is a website full of decent-quality amateur erotica that's popular among those of us who find the predominantly male-gazey and weirdly incestuous content at pornhub not worth the hassle to wade through.
Not just Rick Wiles. Major League umpires are getting in on the "kill democracy" bandwagon. It has all the hallmarks of right wing nuttery: implausible scenarios ALL CAPS and extra exclamation points!!! Misspellings. Here is the argument. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50166557 https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27913518/mlb-looking-long-umpire-rob-drake-tweet In the tweet, Mr Drake said he planned to buy an assault rifle "because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL (sic) WAR!!! #MAGA2020", according to a copy seen by ESPN. It reportedly followed another tweet that read: "You can't do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital (sic) Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?"
Ah, so it’s capital L Literotica. That makes sense. The thing about most online porn is it usually seems more like a competitive sport than two people sharing the physical act of love. Like, dude and dudess, there are better ways to get your daily cardio and core workouts. Enjoy what you’re doing for God’s sake or else what is the point. Luckily you don’t need that anymore. You married the MMT guy, right? In the last 2-3 days I saw some stuff about MMT but didn’t post it. The gist of it was, IIRC, an argument that we’re living in an MMT world but just don’t know it or don’t admit it.
Yeah. My understanding is that, for proponents of MMT, MMT is more or less like evolution. It exists and we live with it whether you "believe" in it or not. I'm an English-teacher-turned-University-admin person so I'm not the best to explain any of it, but if you have any specific questions, post them in the MMT thread and I'll give hubby a poke.
Japan may be getting there. All they have to do is say that the debt that the central bank holds is no longer existent/valid. According to this, The Bank of Japan now holds about 50% of all Japanese Government Debt. So if your central bank is the one buying your government debt, then are you really creating debt? https://www.japanmacroadvisors.com/...ndicators/financial-markets/jgbs-held-by-boj/ https://research.stlouisfed.org/pub...07/15/the-asset-holdings-of-the-bank-of-japan Basically the argument is that Japan is already doing MMT, they just don't want to admit to it. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2...s-debate-modern-monetary-theory/#.XbHgtGZOnIU
Any president who is impeached and acquitted should be permitted to serve a third term, writes William Mattox https://t.co/1nNkJF0GoY— Wall Street Journal Opinion (@WSJopinion) October 24, 2019
You know, maybe not a bad idea. Imagine if enough Democratic Representatives had agreed with hard core republicans on impeaching Obama, then Democrats in the Senate vote against it, boom Obama 2016 would have been a thing. Sounds like a pretty simple way to get around term limits, I assume that if you get impeached 2 times, then you can run for a 4th term.
