What's interesting to me about the beginning of that clip is how he's obviously laying the groundwork for what became his cult. "The American people are very smart, they don't believe what they read, they get it." It was straight up ass kissing the Dunning-Kruger portion of the population, and it worked, he suckered them in with flattery and hatred of the leftist media and now they're totally devoted to him. We later learned that wasn't brilliant campaign tactics on Trump's part. He doesn't believe what's in print either, because he doesn't read, and he thinks despite not reading he gets it because he's very smart. Just another case of Trump projection.

But it worked, because his voters recognized a kindred soul. Despite Trump bragging about being among the Ivy elite and being super-rich and all that, they realized that he was just like them. Never did much like schoolwork, and resented those who did.
