The joke is finishing when the other team takes you seriously and puts a man on you at all times.

In the aggregate, you're right... but that's including a lot of not-exceptional attackers/players in general.
This kind of thing happens to CP too much is my point.
It's not a huge deal, he's doing fine right now... I'm just saying, it's a habit he happens to have picked up.
Would be nice to see him shake it.

    Fair enough!

Fair enough, and perhaps it was nor fair to quote you as if to single you out. Your position seems extreme to me, but not nearly as extreme as those shouting for a loan. He has been at least marginally productive, and really just needs to clean some things up in his game.

1300-1500 mins this year at this level is fine by me.

You don't loan out a $73m player in his first year. It's just not done.

Especially if you can't bring in a replacement

You'd think that would be obvious, wouldn't you.

Watch, if he doesn't play significant minutes for a couple matches people will start saying it again.

That they will. Impatience is a calling card of American fans. I’m guilty of it myself.

Good one. Let's be more presice: "you don't loan out a $73m player once he's arrived to your club."

That was the deal of all deals. “We will sell you this player for $73M but after you pay we are keeping him until the season is over so we can have him on the bench just in case”

Just wait until they buy him back for $40 million in three years.

Yeah. BVB really manhandled Chelsea on that deal. Former used car salesmen?

Yeah, so was this head directed at BS?
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...rd-hails-Christian-Pulisic-Newcastle-win.html

Referencing the ratings discussion earlier, I do think one of the problems with digesting opinion from a distance is that we're left to sift through quite a lot of stuff that is pretty much the definition of batshit crazy. When I used to work in London, I bought 10 papers a day (obviously, it's been a while). The point is not that I read a lot, I didn't, I skimmed a lot, but that London, alone, has more than 10 daily papers. The way to attract readers is have unique stuff, which is really hard, or to be extreme. So player narratives zig and zag rather violently. I realize the irony of making this point when posting a daily mail piece.
There will be weekends with too low, and too high, ratings. there will be a steady stream of stories that Pulisic is God-like and pub league.
Right now, he cost a lot of money and he has yet to settle in, so flop is the low hanging fruit. But, as we see here, flop become star in a matter of a few pretty good, but not wowsa spectacular, minutes.
It takes time to adjust, and at this level adjustment isn't always steadily up. but he has quality and he will come good.
My only issue lately has been that the nats really need to leave him alone to adjust to a new club. Esp with a complicated nats system, it can derail his adjustment to what his actual manager wants him to do. This is just until it's clear that he's got and it's second nature to him.

As many said before, probably best for him to stay away from the Nat for now

Except that he individually might be worth a 10% improvement in our chances of winning our Stupid League on Nations Stupid Group.

It's not footballers or sports stars...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenda_Slagg

Slagg's column usually takes the form of several paragraphs lauding people in the news that fortnight, each followed by a paragraph deriding the people she has just praised. For example, she will begin "Hats off to Anne Robinson!" and follow it later with "Anne Robinson? Aren'tchajustsickofher!"

Nothing in the tabloids is ever 'disappointing'. It's always 'a disaster'. People are never 'mildly disconcerted'. They're permanently in a state of 'fury'.

Unfortunately the British tabloids are a cross the British have to bear, presumably by way of punishment for colonialism, empire or pronouncing Cholmondley, 'Chumley' :(

FWIW the vast majority of us over here, including the people that read them, don't take them very seriously... that's why they have to be 'adorned', (for want of a better word), with pictures of naked women.

New manager comes in, doesn't like player and bam, it's done. Just because it hasn't been done yet doesn't mean much. Chelsea's transfer ban is the only thing that might prevent this from happening besides CP actually earning his spot and Lampard's respect as a player.

Is that the name of one of the naked women or the identity of someone for whom the British need punishment... or both?

St. John is to 'Sinjin' as Cholmondley is to 'Chumley'
