That's my belief, too. However, it's fair to say that I overstated the percentage of people who share that view. So I retract my earlier comment and cede this issue to stanger. If a Republican President had consensual sex with an intern, many Democrats would complain. Stanger is correct and I was not.

My guess would be that in a hot, dry place, the dark paint fades.

I read something somewhere suggestng that there are more cars painted white than any other color. When you think of the sheer number of company or municipal vehicles and trucks and whatnot that use graphics on the doors, there may be something to it.

Various shades of metallic grey work well for a really nice car where you don't want the paint to scream, "Look at me!". Black does the same thing, but it needs to be taken back from metalheads and goths.
