Blake makes another gaffe, this time on a corner misjudging the flight of the ball, and leaves his goal agape which Big Red takes advantage of. 0-2 in favor of NY.

There is some quality. Their whole cm is good. It's the main reason why they control games and finished toward the top this season, even if they often couldn't deliver that final ball. Przybylko is a good finisher. Aaronson just hasn't found him enough this season. But he's not available today. So their front line is weak.

And there you see the downside of Aaronson. Two good runs into the box, but when the ball falls to him, he takes too many touches, and the opportunity goes away. Take the one time shot, and don't feather it, for a change. He leaves goals on the field that way. It's frustrating.

LOL Blake does it again. Goes up for 50-50 and loses it right to Barlow for the open net goal. He was fortunate that didn't happen earlier too. But Barlow missed and gk is a protected species so they called a foul.

Or fake the shot freezing the cb but do a face left and take two steps into the centre of the box at which point the gk is screwed.

This is the worst game I’ve seen from Blake.

    on Philly...
Bedoya has been good, Wooten has been absent, Aaronson is erratic, McKenzie is raw, and Gaddis isn’t ever going to be an international level player. Jamiro is their most talented player. Haris is good MLS level player. Same with Elliot. Wagner and Santos are forgettable.

    On NYRB...
Barlow is a decent MLS striker. Muyl isn’t a bad MLS player. Long and Parker are having decent games. Buckmaster is forgettable. Kaku is good, so is Rzatkowski. Casseres is forgettable, IMO. Unfortunate injury for sims. Royer still gives me nightmares as an Atlanta fan. Lawrence still best LB in the league.

I thought Lletget played a very good game for the Galaxy even besides the goal. He's far from their best player but he is an important piece to that team. Between he and Holmes, I think we have two guys who could be functional 10's for the USMNT and allow Pulisic to stay wide and McKennie to go back to the 8. I'm looking forward to El Trafico!

Jpzy has only once topped 2000 minutes of league play.

As a regular starter, he hasn't made it through a tournament since 2010.

I forgot he has diabetes so it probably isn't simple. It was just a random thought considering his slightly odd biomechanics and injury history. On Jozy, I just think he has extra sensitive hammies at this point

Pomykal has had a really hard to time staying consistently fit over the last two seasons. I don't know if its his style of play or what, but he's had consistent problems.

I mean, Pomykal did not get to the 2000 minute mark this season in MLS.
He only started 5 games since July 14th for FCD.
[Part of that was going off to the U20WC of course.]

Pax not starting this weekend wasn't a surprise. Luchi has a good problem right now. Ferreira and Servania are playing well in central midfield. Down the stretch Ferreira was more of a #10 in the midfield; even looking like a #8 at times. [Basically playing a similar position to what his father did for FCD :) ]They're both US U23s as well. And next season they somehow need to find more time for U20 World Cup member Edwin Cerrillo and recent U20 call up Thomas Roberts (the new cycle). They also have USL League One MVP Arturo Rodriguez they will probably elevate to the first team and USYNTer Tanner Tessman that they want to sign.

By the way, FCD's reserve team won the USL League One title yesterday. A really talented group. They started a 16 year old left back in the championship game named Jonathan Gomez. He's absolutely incredible. [He's the brother FCD academy alumnus Johan Gomez, who just left for Porto.] Keep an eye out for that name. He's switched back and forth between Mexico and the US, but has most recently been with the US.

If MLS had a real money transfer system layered upon the Garber bucks then FCD would have another nice income stream.

Altidore has had a litany of ankle, knee, heel, and hamstring injuries of the non-contact variety. The one year he played over 2000 minutes was when had lost all that weight.

He helicoptered in for the knockouts. Still, he started 4 straight knockout round matches, which was awesome for him. Of course, that was also year he went over 2000 league minutes, following the weight loss.

I think his condition has impacted his decision on where to play. Just a guess on my part but not many athletes of that quality have diabetes (I think) and would you rather trailblaze in a foreign country where you don't speak the language or play where your father who's a doctor works?

He never mentioned diabetes. The reason he gave was a puppy. Players are playing all over the world with the condition. He was also a college graduate, not a 16 year old.

He stayed, end of story. He has improved, which is rare, good for him.

You're taking a story from Jermaine Jones, who was trying to deflect blame for his role in getting disqualified, onto a guy who started like one game during the campaign and played well, as gospel.

In all likelihood what happened was Jones asked him why he didn't go to Werder, Morris gave a slew of primary reasons: early playing time, playing in front of big crowds, his family and friends, girlfriend, loyalty, his dad being the team doctor so he'd give him special treatment, etc; then he threw in threw in the dog part and Jermaine took it out of context. Jordan may have even be joking about the dog part.

People need to let this go, and start getting behind a guy who is arguably our best national team player in recent years (sadly, but still), who has overcome a torn acl and diabetes to do so.

It is too funny and emblematic to let go! Come on, nothing wraps up the Lost Generation and our Soft Tatooed Millionaires in one sentence. He passed up the Bundesliga for a puppy! It is too good and spot on.

Jones told his story. Morris has never refuted it. Plenty of paid MLS shills must have went to him for comment. He is obviously not upset with his decision or the story. In a way, that shows a strong mindset. He still has the girlfriend and puppy I believe and a big MLS contract.

He went 90/83/90 in the knockout stages of Gold Cup 2017. I don't know how much you wanted.

He could have gone more in this year's addition but Gregg didn't let him. He was going 90 before the tournament and then went 90s upon returning.

Morris also hasn't refuted he was one of the main culprits for the US getting dq'ed in spite of starting one game in part due to injury and keeping the team alive. So it seems his approach is to block out the negativity, keep his head down, and grind. And I'd say it's worked for him. Because he's come back to thrive thru it. Most would succumb.

At realistic best, Jones' story has a morsel of truth to it. Jones wasn't a very honest player or person. He always lived on the borderline and occasionally went over. And after he pushed the ref to get banned for a few games he whined incessantly about his moderate punishment for it. In that diatribe that included scapegoating Morris he disingenuously conflated his performance at the WC w/ his play 3 years later when the US got dq'ed to also absolve himself from it. He had an agenda.

The way Morris has pretty much been a lone bright spot lately perhaps the answer is puppies for everyone.

That's interesting. I've heard there are no players with juvenile diabetes in Bundesliga and that Morris would be a first. A puppy story is something I would expect a knuckle dragger to repeat. Not sure why Morris is obliged to expose his contract negotiations to public scrutiny even if it is something you would do personally. That is just your choice. I keep negotiations between myself and management confidential.

I am sorry, but anyone who thinks Morris is soft is a ********ing idiot. Dude is one of the hardest workers on and off the field. He does it all while dealing with diabetes which requires an extra level of maturity and persistence to keep functioning let alone performing as a professional athlete.

Sounders offered him more money than Werder Bremen did.

Also classic that it’s on an online message board where all the hardest working, nose to the grindstone folks can be found. Smh.

Ive been impressed with the way Morris has come back from injury and really gotten back into a good rhythm. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in one of the top European leagues partly to see how he’d hang. That said I won’t begrudge him if he makes great money and stays in his hometown.
