Yeah... I have yet to find a soccer rating that truly holds water... It is all about the eye test... just gotta watch these guys play.
I think this is too facile. United have shown they can still cost top teams points, esp at home (good for Chelski they have that one out of the way) and they still have to face Spurs x2. Not sure Spurs are as over as suggested. Important stretch for Chelski coming up - lots of CL action, an important Palace game in two weeks. Will be a good test for Lampard team/player management skills.
@smokarz re CP ratings: Rated a 7 by Football London. Second highest rating (multiple players) Rated a 7 by 90MIN. Second highest rating (multiple players) Rated a 7 by thehardtackle. Third highest rating (multiple players)--the site gave a 9 to Jorginho & H-O and 8 to Zouma Rated a 7 by WestLondonSport. Second highest rating (multiple players) Rated 6.4 by WhoScored. Second LOWEST (tied with Barkely; only Mount lower) FWIW, they give Yedlin a 7. Yesterday, I saw one rating of '5' for CP, but I can't find it today. My rating would have been a 7.
Sigh** Going from everything, (yes I have read nearly every public utterance from him and his family about his life and career) and it is clear you don't get it at all. FFS people act like the guys at CFC who pull purse strings didn't know in Dec they were going to fire Sarri and hire Lumpy. I am not sure of the promises that were broken at BVB, but it was clear he was never going to resign after the "broken promises." Whatever they were, I believe they were a legit shot to play in the middle of the pitch. The Reus role if you will. He got them under TT but the next 2 coaches and then a third never gave him a chance. The first public thing I recall Lumpy saying about him was that he thought he should be in the middle of the pitch. At BVB, post Tuchel, he was viewed solely as a winger. Pulisic considers himself an AF/CAM not a winger. He came to Chelsea for chances like he got yesterday. He became a winger so he could get on the pitch with men, while he was still a boy. He is a useful winger too, but he sees himself in the role he played yesterday. I personally think he will develop into a world class player there simply because he puts so much pressure on a defense. His crosses are rather ordinary, but his through balls are sublime. Yesterday we/he/CFC got a little taste, stay tuned, there will be more to come.
Seriously, they knew in January last year that they were going to dump a guy who had them in the CL places, and was widely considered to be one of the better coaches around, for Lamps, who had Derby almost in the Championship playoff places at that time? Is that why the contract was terminated only at Sarri's request, and Chelsea required compensation from Juve? I don't doubt that Lampard was always destined to manage Chelsea, once he figured out the managing gig, but I would guess this summer was a bit earlier than Abramovich and Co had seen as ideal. Did the Chelsea board consult him on the Pulisic deal ( weirdly way beyond normal tapping up)?
He really does need to get better at finishing. But I agree with a lot of this. If his finishing improves it would make his ability to draw defenders even more devastating. That's part of why Sancho is just so devastating. His end product whether it's a cross or a finish is so consistent. Pulisic can do stuff you see other players never do, but he doesn't do it with consistency and his end product is just average.
I've watched every minute of every CFC games for years now so, just a bit of info for you guys... Mount will see the pitch because he scores goals. Of those two Barkley is more likely to be subbed if he's not playing well. Not the way Willian's playing, he's not. He's been a vital part of the threat we have going forward. Pedro, maybe! Your lad did well for us the other day. I haven't watched him an enormous amount before he signed for us but I've seen enough to know he can be a great addition for years to come
I dont want to seem like im bagging on mount to prop up pulisic, but like barkley mount is not #10 material i felt like he was playing more like a striker (maybe by design) than a midfielder yesterday. Hes like a poaching center mid who works hard.
This is very true. He won't be able to send in crosses like Odoi, but he got the vision to set up guys like he did with Tammy and Alonso yesterday.
Completely agreed. Willian has been playing very well as of recent, however I still don't think Chelsea is going to give him a new multi year contract. I think he's gone next summer, but I think Chelsea will sign a new young winger to keep competition high. If Mount keep scoring he will play, but I believe his scoring will slow down significantly. I just don't rate Mount.
Do you mean Ross Barkley or Mason Mount? Mount, (4 goals in 9 appearances), is still only 20 whereas Ross Barkley, (3 in 35), is nearly 26. Of the two Barkley is more likely to be dropped in the future as he's still rather erratic in a way you might forgive with a kid, not so much with a guy who's meant to be in his prime.
Mount and Puli are investments for the future and, increasingly, for the rest of this season. My thinking is that if we had an experienced and reliable centre forward, Mount, (who's more likely to chip in with a goal), wouldn't be getting as much time this year but the thing is, we need more goals from across the team. We can't just rely on Tammy who's only a kid himself. However, that doesn't mean that Puli won't play necessarily. It just means he'll be sharing playing time so we can see who's going to do the business.
I think that is a good thing! He has time to build his game with a manager who finds him useful, while not using his body up.
Yeah. Willian is really good and is obviously the senior leader for these guys. I don’t see him going anywhere barring an injury. Pedro, while older and not the Pedro of a few years ago, is an extremely intelligent player. He will be depth but not direct competition for CP.
If not for a pretty epic reflex save from the keeper, Mount had a great back to goal turn shot against Newcastle. You may not rate him but that kids keeps the defense honest. For that alone he is an asset. CP had to start scoring goals to displace Mount.
Mason Mount was looked at as the crown jewel of Chelsea's Academy for years even before Lampard and Jody Morris came back. He is going to be a key player for Chelsea.
