No longer a Barça lounger: Sergiño Dest at PSV (olf FC Barcelona)

  1. ??
Is that your gauging method of being good?
And no, he hasnot two assists. Promes himself created the chance and than scored the goal.
It's like saying after miracle Maradona slalom through the English team the guy who gave him the ball assisted him.
It's better to read what ten Hag said about the players:
    https://www.ad.nl/nederlands-voetbal/klagende-ten-hag-ik-zag-elf-bv-tjes-op-het-veld~a8d5c448/
    https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1116305333/ten-hag-ergert-zich-mateloos-aan-ajax.
Blind says it was their worst match in two years (that includes the 6-2 beating up by Feyenoord)
    https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1227501493/daley-blind-zand-in-de-ogen-van-chelsea

Anyway, if this is symptomatic for how Americans analyse matches, I doubt the USNMT will progress.
If we Dutch would use the same method, nobody ever would have heared about the Orange team.

  2. Did you read the paper articles I posted? I just checked the ratings Orange 14 always makes of the team after a match and those ratings are in line with the tendency of the articles.
If Dest has the same way of looking at things as you guys, then he's in for a big surprise.

  3. If you guys think we with the Orange team use the Berhalter methods to form a team, you really are bonkos.

Settle down Fey-rancis. You’re the only one on here who cares about the Orange. I didn’t watch the match but I will settle for an 18. Yr old RB (credited) with two assists.

Cute how you take partial credit for the Dutch NT.

  7. The saying is that the Orange team has 17 million national team coaches.

  8. The point is that ten Hag himself tells they played like shit and posters in here more or less tell Koeman will think "great, two assists. I'm gonna cap him now."

It is as if people gave up on him to choose the USA. Fact is that he had a talk to see what plans Koeman had for him. If he had been given a very good option in that talk, he would have announced his switch then.
He hasnot, so all cards are still on the table.
It's rather funny that posters in here think Koeman is going to look favourably on his play when his own coach didnot and the Ajax defense played so bad they should have lost against the last of the league.
Not a good start of the weekend for Koeman anyway, because not only Ajax sucked, but PSV and AZ too with alot of Orange men plus candidates/wannabees.

  11. And yet the defenders that were raised by even the low flying clubs are sought after in Europe.
Latest one in a row is German defender Chabot, who learned to defend the Dutch way at FC Groningen, was bought by a Serie A club (you know, Italy, know how country of defense in soccer) and is doing so well, it attracts interest from epl clubs.
Just explain the contradiction in the purchasing process of the European clubs in regard to defenders from low table Eredivisie clubs and your stance we can't defend.
What do you think? You know better or the guys with the hand on the purses know better?

  12. We can field eleven CD's more than qualified to wear the orange shirt and the total worth of that team would eclipse the worth of the USNMT.
We simply produce the best defenders. Period.

He's the first guy anointed starting Dutch national teamer without getting a call-up. lol.

    Highlights.

Really good cross - and trademark quick feet to open the space. Was that Dest losing the soccer on the goal?

I apologize for encouraging overconfidence, and for giving Waalwijk bulletin board material.

    Happy with two assists.

    Chelsea coming up ...

I think he's implicated on the RKC goal, however... So, front was clean, stains in the back?

All I said is that when I used to watch the league its defenders were pretty poor overall so I don't think Dest playing defense for Ajax necessarily means he is or ever will be a great defender. Sure, Ajax is a great club. Sure, The Netherlands has produced some great defenders. Sure, the USMNT sucks at the moment. But none of that really has anything to do with my previous observations that defenders in that league, even at one of its 2.5 really good clubs, aren't always world beaters.

The Ered does produce some good defenders but the league as a whole has little focus on defense, and leaves a lot of space when compared to other leagues at about the same level. That's why a forward can look ace in the Netherlands and flop miserably somewhere else.

In short, the coaches don't seem to focus much on defense.

Time for our regular reminder that, as a selling league, the Eredivisie a) produces plenty of quality defenders who b) are playing for top teams in other countries because that's where the effing $$$ are."

More than most any other country, we need to distinguish between the abilities of its MNT players and the abilities of its league's players.

    sXeWesley repped this.
  25. You fall into the trapp most casual observers of Eredivisie matches fall. The style of play Eredivisie wide (last placed RKC attack against Ajax when possible and were undeservedly beaten) to play an attacking game, which makes defending more difficult for both top as the sub top teams.
In other leagues the sub top teams concentrate on securing their defense first, which makes it seem like their defenders are better. However that's just an illusion, what defenders from abroad experience when coming into the Eredivisie.
Our defenders arenot below those of other leagues. On the contrary. Our way of play puts high demands on them, which is being recognized by foreign clubs that, AND I HAVE TO STRESS THAT TIME AFTER TIME AFTER IDIOTIC POSTS ABOUT BAD DEFENDERS FROM THE EREDIVISIE, buy defenders from those low flying clubs.
It's a continually baffling thing people keep on waffling about Eredivisie defenders being bad while the top leagues keep buying them.

So again, who are the idiots? Those running clubs and buying those defenders or the people dissing those defenders?
