its an unusual situation. people are saying he was benched, "finally lost his spot" last week, but hes started every other match- that looks more like rest than anything. not making the case hes doing well, im just saying he seems to be a lock starter regardless of form. somehow. for whatever reason. maybe the alternatives are just even worse? im only invested in terms of the usmnt so i feel better about this than a lot of our guys abroad- at least he has the chances to work himself into better form. eventually. hopefully.
Tyler Boyd involved in a horrible collision with the goalkeeper. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/tyler-boyd-at-beşiktaş.2003417/page-17#post-38079970
The reactions that I read were a mix of being mad and being understanding. Mad because he had already played for New Zealand; understanding because New Zealand hasn't played a match since June 2018.
I remember this happening but for some reason I thought that the keeper had gotten the worst of it and Boyd came off relatively unscathed. I guess I was wrong. Get well soon.
I have no inside information about Tyler's condition. None But he was called up to the USMNT again. For all the disagreements we have over the USMNT, the team's doctors are typically excellent. If they suspect something is wrong, I hope they give him a real examination.
The incident occurred before last national team camp, so they would have already missed it if that's the reason for the steep drop-off in his play.
Was originally left out of the 18, but added to the bench at the last minute for Europa League match. Beşiktaş'ta ilk 11'de yer alan N’Koudou şiddetli migren ağrısı nedeniyle kadrodan çıkartıldı. Yerine Caner Erkin ilk 11'e girdi, Tyler Boyd ise kadroya dahil edildi.— mackolik (@mackolik) October 3, 2019

Caught a good chunk of this game. Sad to inform Beşiktaş plays better without Boyd, they won 2-0 against the league leaders, with a mostly counterattacking style that suits them well.

Besiktas is a poor team and Boyd is part of the problem. Anonymous in attack, at least managed to retreat in time to cover. But the day belonged to Braga.

He's very talented but really in a tough spot right now. You gotta hope one of these rare appearances he gets at Besiktas can give him a spark to get that form back we saw earlier in the year. He's got no confidence at the moment. Say what you want about Berhalter, but he would have been completely justified in not calling him up in November. But Berhalter is giving Boyd a lot of opportunities to show his value and make it work.
