Just keep in mind there's no job security in soccer. Sooner or later, a manager is going to arrive who will have no idea what to do with you. Until then, I'm happy with Wes staying there.
fantastic athletic interview with wagner regarding westons game. talks a lot about his defensive lapses and about his awesome mentality
their premier league coverage is head and shoulders above anything else ive ever seen. seems like they are picking off established soccer writers from all over the uk. other leagues are more spotty, but still good content. if you follow any other sports its easily worth it.
We should find out a lot more about this this year as Schalke look to be vastly improved. They move Weston around the pitch a lot and he is often playing a position in the game that is at complete odds with what is entered in the starting lineup. I am eager to see if Wagner puts him up front more down the stretch like he did against Leipzig.

I'm not arguing with you on the mentality, but I find it so interesting how in world soccer players find validation basically by winning things by going to stacked clubs that could probably win without them. I know Bale contributed at points, but Real Madrid's success wasn't due to Gareth Bale. Leading Tottenham to a CL Finals, like they went last year, is probably a bigger accomplishment than going to a bunch of finals with Ronaldo, Ramos and team. It's interesting to me that in an American sport, someone like Kevin Durant gets absolutely BLASTED for joining a juggernaut instead of trying to win with his original team, where in club soccer, he'd have been looked down upon for trying to stay with OKC. Wouldn't it have been a greater challenge for Kante to stay and win more with Leicester rather than go to a more talented and high budget Chelsea team? Again, I'm not really arguing. Just sort of fascinated that soccer fans are obsessed with competition. But they don't seem to care that most leagues aren't competitive, and they actively root for top players to not beat the established champs, but rather join them. I think I'll always be more impressed with Eden Hazard carrying Chelsea last year than whatever he does with Real Madrid. For Weston McKennie, isn't it a greater challenge to try and beat Bayern than to join them and play a minor role as Bayern wins yet again?
In the old days, the best players uplifted their own teams from mediocrity into the pages of history, like Maradona did with Napoli, Pele with Santos, Zico with Flamengo, Yashin with Dynamo, Lato with Mielec, and so on. The Megaclub is a rather recent phenomenon, dating from the late 80s. It's only now that people have grown callous enough not to care about sports clubs financed by people with blood in their hands, and that most have been brainwashed into calling barons of industry "job creators."
Oh, I agree with you. I was merely talking about what he does now. He is not exceptional on the field at his age and is hardly some kind of Jao Felix or something at his age but he does a lot of little things well and I like watching Weston. He is a firey piston and appears to be a natural leader even for the young age of 21.

After this brilliant phrase I will forever hear your posts in a very saucey Saoirse Ronan slightly-tipsy voice.
If he is out any longer than a week then I will be at a complete loss... I watch so many EPL/Bundesliga games weekly and there are tons of players that never miss significant time... but US players abroad are constantly nursing injuries. It is mind boggling.
it’s my fault. Im a a philly guy sixers: fultz, Simmons, Zaire and embiid lost a season eagles: most injuries of any team over the past three years (super bowl baby!) flyers: Patrick has debilitating migraines USMNT: too long a list.
I didn't see the specifics posted elsewhere but according to this Weston was out w/ a calf strain: https://mlsmultiplex.com/2019/10/22...gent-matt-miazga-score-action-packed-weekend/ Assuming him will be out again this week... hope I am wrong.
Weston seems unlikely to start in the Revierderby tomorrow morning. Unfortunate because Schalke is only 1 point behind BVB and only 2 points behind Monchengladbach, who are Bundesliga leaders Weston McKennie has not taken part in the final training session before tomorrow's derby. The chances of him playing are becoming more and more unlikely. [Bild,🥇] #S04 pic.twitter.com/JqwdXsMpWD— Schalke Daily (@S04Daily) October 25, 2019
