Interesting that CP played in the second match for the U.S and is not running back to England this time so he can be ready to start on the weekend premiere league match. Too bad he didn't play well in the 2 USMNT matches..Thought he was going to use these matches to get his feet wet and make a statement.
Something about the whole CP saga reminds me of early days of LD's career (except, sadly, there is no "Tim" of CP's camp on line - ah the fun we had...) Ultimately he either plays through the pressure/focus or he doesn't. Obviously has the skills - now it's all about head.
At this age Donovan wasn't a golden boy yet, but played at WC already. Tim was around when Donovan was 18.
Interesting read. This is a bit revealing. "This present-day Chelsea team is built of players perfectly trusted to carry out the tactical plan being implemented by Lampard, Morris and Co. They are now simply looking for Pulisic to prove he can fit into the team ethic both with and without the ball. Every training session is being used to monitor how well he is taking on board their messages." https://bleacherreport.com/articles...O7UwFxPRKIn9TkOeEL1AYH9hVqMfG_1UpmrUfcUH8gxM8
Will eventually make him a better player. Dribbling and taking on defenders takes a lot of energy. He may need to get a little choosier with his take-ons so he still has the endurance left to do the kind of off the ball work Chelsea is looking for.
I'd say he was pretty golden by 21... But this is a discussion for a different place. Nonetheless, there is something about CP, his play and his current "unsettled" position that reminds me of LD. (The Tim quip was a quip.) Will be interesting to see how CP reacts to a run of bad press/negative attention if it continues for any length of time.
He doesn't even take on players that much... which i believe he needs to do more often especially when he's 1v1 on the wing.
Delaney, Guerrero, Sancho, Brandt, Hazard, and Witsel, and Reus played as well. So, not really a huge difference for CP.

How many played on a Tuesday night and arrived back at Chelsea fully jet-lagged after experiencing "flue-like symptoms" for 2 days before the game?
I know. I have seen a ton of Lampard's quotes.... Pulisic doesnt start because he is young (yet so is Abraham and Mount).... Pulisic doesnt start because of experience (yet he has more than the aforementioned pair in a top league and CL experience). Pulisic is in a new league (yet Abraham and Mount didnt spend last year playing first team football in EPL either).... I dont trust a thing that Lampard says because he seems to be always trying to put some kind of spin on Pulisic's lack of playing time instead of just being hoenst that he doesnt value him.... He can do what he wants because its his job to run the team and I dont begrudge that but I dont believe a damn word he says about valuing him.
On the bench today. Hoping either Willian or Odoi picks up a knock so he can get in. Barkley continuing to start is just head scratching. It's like 3G keep putting Trapp and Roldan out there. Today's team to play Newcastle! 👊#CHENEW pic.twitter.com/jHaGsC5xsU— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) October 19, 2019
and Barkley is now injured so Kovacic replaces him ... I would think Pulisic has a 50/50 chance to come in second half .... either Abraham comes out for Giroud ... or Pulisic might replace Mount or Odoi or Wilian if one of them looks to come out ....
Uh, I was responding to a post that was talking about the *general*challenge of breaking into the lineup. Maybe check next time?
