I think it was the CONCACAF U20 WC qualifying back in 2015 when about 1/2 the GKs were US-eligible (or at least US-raised).

Jose Gonzalez (Mexico), Carlos Canas (El Salvador), Johan Welch (T&T), Nicholas Hagen (Guatemala), Nicholas Nelson (Jamaica) + the 2 US GKs.

But 4 at the U17 WC finals would be unprecedented.

It’s also 3 additional keepers on rosters of traditionally good footballing nations.

'04 LAFC CB Antonio Leone is heading to Mexico YNT camp, according to a source close to him. He's been a US U15 mainstay.

.... you've gotta be kidding me. I didn't even realize he was Mexican.

That’s bad. You can’t frame it much differently than that.

Both his mother and father confirm it on social media. Still no reason yet to believe he's committing to anything more than a tryout for now. Leone's social media is relatively pro-US, so we'll see. Not like his club teammate Christian Torres who, despite a multitude of USYNT caps, you'd never know was a US player from his social media and likely prefers Mexico a la Jonathan Perez.

    Whoa... did not know that.

I am not at all active on Instagram but I have like three photos on there (not soccer related) and like 2.5 years ago Herivaux "liked" one of them... obviously I knew who he was, but I have no idea how he'd even have seen that pic unless he searched for my account based on my soccer ramblings elsewhere. lol

USYNT will face Japan next in the U17WC. They have a half-American backup keeper, Taishi Brandon Nozawa. https://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/teams/team/1888308/

Their starting lineup which disposed of Holland 3-0 also had several players with Black heritage and/or Anglophone-ish names, but they have Nigerian or Ghanaian parents.

Young Puerto Rican defender trialing with FCD/NTSC right now. He was in PRs squad for the League of Nations, but don't know if he played. Could be cap-tied.

Turns out that was Corlens Etienne, not Omre, & none of the dual Yanks played in yesterday's match.
