Greg Berhalter is frankly the worst thing to ever happen to US soccer.

you don’t understand his ambition and vision. You’re a black and white guy in a colored TV world.
Did you see the Cuba game?

I can't figure out it if this is meant honestly?

There are key, important moments in any history where you can say: yes, this is a point of failure, so is this, and this. But there are always crucial, era changing moments. To call Beerholder the problem is like calling G. Gordon Liddy the problem with Nixon conservatism. He was but the instrument of a much greater and sinister apparatus.

It is amateur hour at the moment. I could isolate key moments and decisions...but no one would believe it so, what's the point. I will just say, this path was set in 2006 - 2008.

At least since the Helsinki dodgeball sudden death in 1918, and I think we all remember what happened during that

I have followed and watched every USA game since the 2006 World Cup. If Greg Berhalter is still coaching next Month, I think I’m passing on watching those games. This federation has let us down so much since missing the World Cup in 2018.

Berhalter has been poor and his team selections has been poor. It’s clear he’s not the man for the job. If we qualify for the World Cup we will be embarrassed and get knocked out in the Group Stages.

If that’s our goal so be it but if the federation is aiming for higher, changes must be made NOW.

Berhalter had plenty of opportunities to prove himself. Losing to Mexico multiple times without scoring hasn’t proved anything. Getting smashed by the likes of Jamaica, Canada and Venezuela is embarrassing. This team has became an effing joke and it’s sad.

I can’t believe how disgusted I still am after that game last night. This coach has left a horrible taste mouth and I can’t get rid of it. I just want to puke

I know it’s sarcasm but to be honest this team didn’t even try to play through the middle even against Cuba...

coach specifically said that the thought was to switch play between the wings and create problems for Canada’s midfield diamond. He knows what’s going on - you lack vision.

Once the players have the system locked into muscle memory, we will be a proactive powerhouse like Pep’s teams. No more of this reactive BS - that’s for losers (even if they win on the scoreboard, it doesn’t matter as style trumps substance).

A poster said that we’ve made progress and that we’d get the system down by late Hex (late 2021) so it’s only two more years of transitioning until greatness! Open your eyes and you shall see!

I can't remember many times when player morale looked so low on the USMNT. A Coach's fundamental job is to put players in the best position to succeed. I can't think of any games under Gregg where that looked the case. His arrogance of trying to force a system is a good representation of our leadership as a whole.

It is not just 3Gs. It is also the GM, Earnie Stewart, who wants us to do this.

There’s a certain level of cockiness that every underdog needs to have.. an inner drive that compels a man to think, c’mon MFer. I will knock your two front teeth out. That man craves that mountain to climb. He’s enthralled by it. It captures his being.

the USMNT has lost that edge.

Imo, 3G is simply following orders. He has this mandate to transform the team's style of play.

Here's the thing, though: given the Fed's ambitions for the team, they could've just promoted Tab who would've then pulled in the young players he has worked with.

This a basically a project for the U23s and U20s, who as a cohort are much more comfortable playing the way the Fed wants the Senior Team to play.

Promoting the youth team coach is often done when the idea is to fast track the youngsters.

Instead the whole hiring process looked setup to bring in Berhalter. And he seems uncomfortable in calling the duals and the youngsters.

Whether Berhalter would call them in or not is a theoretical question. Somewhere, a compromise was made in his mind, or with persons above him, that certain players would not be called. This is where the phrase, "first team minutes" sprung up.

Not as well discussed is also a bias against Second Division players. If we eliminate players in any 2nd division, and eliminate players on reserve teams, we get the pool from which Gregg seems to work in. A pool that is guaranteed to feature many MLS players.

Yes, there are two players from 2nd divisions that played this window. They were first division players when Gregg was hired. Gregg has changed very little, if anything, from what he was thinking at this time last year.

I agree that there are many younger players, especially from the last U20 pool, that could play this style better than guys that have multiple caps this year. But they are excluded by this artificial set of rules.

Even if we think of it in the abstract. If the goal is to play like Ajax, who would be better able to hit the ground running:

    1. Reserve players, playing for Ajax and PSV?
    2. Guys playing for the Montreal Impact and San Jose Quakes?

If the idea is to play Pep type ball, who would be better:

    1. Guys being trained by former Pep teams like Bayern Munich
    2. Guys playing for the New York Red Bulls or Toronto FC?

I am glad Liddy went to jail. Had Nixon remained in office I still would have wanted Liddy to go to jail. Yes, the federation is a corrupt shambles. That doesn't mean a coaching change won't help.

I doubt the USSF will fire him after this game, but what about the next one? Should we not win our next one @ home to Canada, we will have no way of qualifying for the Nations League finals. I wonder if they will seriously consider it. Surely not being one of the final 4 in Concacaf to not qualify for a tournament yet again will be the tipping point...

Chances are we win both next games and Egg stays for three more years.

Every week that goes by with him still there makes it much more likely he stays for good. A collateral effect of them taking over a year to hire him is that the delay makes him harder to fire.

    Maybe that was the idea.

Also, were he to get the boot, who do you think could take over the team and be an upgrade? Don't say Klopp or Tuchel please. Try to be realistic.

Ramos or Wicky. I would guess both want to avoid that job like the plague. Which is fair. Having 6 months to prepare for WC qualis is unfair to an incoming coach.
