"Market" and "territory" are usually synonymous when it comes to MLB (NY, LA, Chi), but of course stupidity reigns in The Bay. But I digress: here's hoping Sac can join the MLS fray soon to give us a true regional rival..
I for one am looking forward to having Sacramento in the league. It will be a great road trip and I think it will put pressure on Fisher to at least not be the second best MLS soccer team in Northern California.
"Sacramento Republic FC say major soccer announcement coming next week" (MLSsoccer.com - Wednesday, 10/16/19) (Sacramento Republic FC) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
A’s to Vegas was an empty half threat designed to pour salt in the Raiders wound in Oakland... and it’s working as they’re considering dropping the lawsuit. Manfred just used it as one possible option.
Double move. Houston to San Antonio and Quakes to Houston. Really, do I have to spell everything out around here?
Correct me if I'm wrong: This is still speculation, and there has been no official statement from MLS.
The official statement will be at the presser no doubt. But it’s not really speculation at this point. Insiders via news sites including MLS’s are reporting it as a done deal and the team isn’t being subtle by hosting an after party that clearly references MLS.
Being nit-picky here. I have no doubt that Monday is the BIG announcement but all reports, even on the MLS site, reference the Sac Bee article. A couple of Sac newscasts have mentioned their "own source(s)" but everything being reported right now is basically the Sac Bee article. So, if the Sac Bee is wrong, everyone is wrong.
I mean that’s not exactly true... The Republic are hosting an MLS themed block party immediately after the presser. Pssst...save the date. You do not want to miss our Indomitable Block Party. 👀 📅 Monday, Oct. 21⏰ 4pm📍 Capitol MallDetails: https://t.co/KpW9DuHT2gSee you there. 👋 pic.twitter.com/BVVF1OFBly— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) October 16, 2019
Yes, that's how nit-picky I'm being. I'm just stating that all press accounts are based on a single report.
