Pogba's brother plays for a Sunday league pub division team and gets trotted out on El Chiringuito (the most anti Zidane show on air right now) to disapprove of the abilities of a Real Madrid player.

Yeah, but what does Toni's brother (who plays three levels above Pogba's brother BTW) think of Valverde?

Fede needs to pace himself and not rush into advanced positions, and finally with all due respect not tackle so much, it can result in cards

That’s a bit of a surprise, I thought you were all for midfielders getting forward, getting into the box and scoring or at least creating more options in the opposition’s box, a surprise somewhat with not only our attackers working in there but midfielders making runs in there too, so very strange to see you post caution about getting into advanced positions

As for tackling, well, the last season and a bit has been about the lack of bite and movement in our midfield, no one fighting ( except Casi) , no one running, lack of intensity, I thought that Fede showed exactly what we’ve all been wanting from a midfielder , be bold, get forward as much as possible , play verticle passes forward, show intensity and fight in the tackle, and..........run and run and run, I actually thought he did a great job all around, I for one thought he used to be too timid when playing.

I was being sarcastic, as in Kroos would not like him showing so much ambition

Ha, good one. Makes a lot more sense with that context. Definitely a case of Kroos telling Valverde do as I say, not as I do.

Funny in another thread they were arguing James v. Kroos, and that James cannot play in Kroos position.

But that's not because James lacks some skill Kroos has. Its because James is not content to just sit back, never attack, never shoot, etc. James arguably puts more effort into defending the difference is that Kroos never gets caught out of position. In Kroos' case, never moving out of position is also his weakness since he just kind of stands around in the same place all game long - never getting forward far enough to score a goal, never getting back deep enough to stop a goal.

Fede has been impressive since last season with us and with Uruguay which is why he was called up for the Copa America, I agree the comparisons are ridiculous though.

This whole thread is a lie.

If Khedira and Kroos had a baby it would look like this IMG_20191011_111349__save.jpg ,

Played an excellent first half for Uruguay against Peru so far. His energy is unbelievable, he’s pretty much become the leader of the Uruguayan midfield. He’s pressuring high up the field, covering a lot of ground, distributing the ball really well and pretty much starting all of Uruguay’s dangerous attacks so far. He’s even been able to have a couple of shots that have been close. I think he has more confidence playing for Uruguay. If he can just keep building on that confidence overall he can develop really well.

Always liked this player, I really hope he can go on and grow into something really special, right now I like his energy but also his quality on the ball , playing well on both sides of the ball, exactly what we needed in our midfield, I hope he can keep it up

@Hendrix22 can you change the title of this thread? Especially now it will be used a lot more. This and the Hazard thread title are so bad it's actually distracting.

Fede Valverde: The malnourished teenager Real Madrid's medical staff didn't want to sign

Having spotting Valverde playing in an Under-17 match in South America, Real Madrid's international department boss Juni Calafat recommended the youngster to the club.

The club's sporting department were keen to sign the 17-year-old, but the medical staff had their reservations about his physical condition.

"He can't sign, he's almost malnourished, his body won't be able to cope," the first medical report said.

[He had] long and skinny legs," Nestor Goncalves told MARCA recently.

Despite the medical team's recommendations, Calafat and the rest of the sporting department insisted on bringing Valverde to Spain - a decision which Real Madrid will be eternally grateful for.

Imagine how much shit Zidane gets being likened to a imbecile... yet it was Zidane who saw this kids ability. It was Zidane (against the wishes of the media and RMBS) who bet on Valverde when damn near everyone was insulting him for not betting on Llorente and Ceballos.

Zidane is imperfect. However this is another example of how exaggerated the venom against him truly has been.

The guy apparently doesn't know tactics, strategies, players or development of youth... ha.

The irony that a few on this forum who know more than Zidane still rated Valverde as nothing spectacular just over a week ago isn't lost on me.
