Lunging in with your studs up and 0 chance to win the ball is only a yellow and not even worthy of a VAR look?
Disagree but i think we weren’t motivated and should have benched some key guys. Now a lot of the guys did play hard but i feel like more than a few mailed it in
I'm not sure what the hell I saw. I'm not sure if Porter was going for a win, or if he was trying out players in the last game. Excellent: Room. That's it. That double save on Altidore and Bradley was a thing of beauty and even more so because it was against such nice guys. Good: Mensah, Josh Williams and Maloney. Mensah had one dumb pass that created the chance for Room to show how to deny Altidore and Bradley in succession. Josh Williams slid into the near side forcing Bradley to shoot far side which allowed Room to make the save. If this is Maloney's last game, he did well. Average: Trapp, Diaz and Zardes, probably Mohktar here too. Great pass by Diaz of his chest into the path of Zardes for our best chance of the game. Zardes had the corner of the goal open and took his shot right to the center of the goal. He needed to finish that. Mohktar made some good passes and didn't do anything disappointing. Below average: Afful. Nothing positive on the attacking end, dribbling into trouble on the sideline with two TFC players around him, decent defensive game. Invisible: Santos. His worst game in a very long time. His switch of the field to Maloney late in the first half where the ball ended almost in the first row was a good sampling on how bad he was today. Really, really poor: Artur. Nothing on the attacking end, cycling the ball to the side and back and more dumb fouls 20-25 yards out. Pozuelo wants to know where to send the thank you card for the gift he got from Artur. Non-factors: Hamilton and Accam. Good chance for Hamilton to show something in front of his former fans and... nothing. Good chance for Accam to say good-bye to Columbus on a positive note and... nothing. Porter: like I said, I'm not sure what he put out there. Why Hamilton for Mohktar? Why not Argudo or Hamilton for Artur? Maybe Argudo is gone next year but so is Accam. Time for the off-season and a new roster for next year.
I rep'd DGA because I agree with his player assessments. I'm writing this anyways. Here is your West Ham Sandwich Good/Bad/Ugly Presented by BigStern for Match 34: Good: Room's double save might be the only thing I remember from this game. Diaz's rip was exciting and his layoff to Zardes really should have led to a goal. Bad: Pedro was bad and probably could have been red carded. This teams reacts to calls that they deem bad like a petulant toddler which is not great for my opinion of Porter's coaching and Trapp's captaincy. Zardes should have scored that chance Diaz provided and only gave more TNT to the bandits who hope to blow up the bridge the Hype Train travels on. Mensah made a very poor pass to the middle of the field that led to Room's double save. The passing out of the back vs Toronto's press was not good. Not a lot of good decision making in the middle third leading to next to no good chances in the final 3rd. A lot of the team was invisible. I'm guessing the 3rd sub was scheduled for Keita for Josh but game state didn't allow that. I will listen to ZMan preach about CB minutes all offseason based on that decision. Mensah/Keita 2020 for 90% of the CB minutes. Ugly: Taking a sub into the offseason irks me. Labeling it ugly is probably harsh and I could easily just say this game was so pedestrian that there really wasn't anything ugly about it. Fitting end to 2019. Spoiler alert, at least we didn't finish the season like Orlando City did. Table Finish based on Match 34 Performance: 10th. I was right (if you only consider last weeks prediction)! Crew dropped all 3 points meaning they remained in 10th. A win wouldn't have mattered as both Chicago and Montreal both got wins. The aforementioned Chicago win and Orlando City spoiler alerts should tell you OC stayed in 11th (while giving up 5 goals at home to Chicago, yikes). I started the season anticipating something between 4th and 8th. Only 8th ended up being an option in Match 34. It was a bad year but one that ended causing some hope for 2020. I'll wait to see what kind of moves are made but fighting for a home playoff match but above the line should be the bare minimum for next year. Anything resembling 2019, I hope Bez has his potential coach rolodex updated.
