Send the "B" team and lets see what we get. IF you are not going to pay for better travel arrangements then lets not have the same crew fly coast to coast in the middle of a 3 game week.
Thought we'd get a draw at best, but now that they aren't going to be 100%, I think we can grab a rare West Coast win on this one.
They may be without a few key players, but they still have a lot to play for...they are fighting to hang onto the last playoff spot in the west, and we still have to fly across three timezones on short rest.
Against a team that plays a style that no other team in the league plays. The Union struggled with Red Bulls pressing, San Jose presses all game long.
Wooten is.... https://www.inquirer.com/soccer/andrew-wooten-philadelphia-union-san-jose-earthquakes-20190924.html
This is an example of the thoughtless foolishness we see in MLS scheduling. Fly a team across the continent mid-week sandwiched between weekend matches, during a very hectic and important juncture of the season, and play at a time in which no one will be watching on TV in their market.
This right here. If Uncle Don is gonna make an east coast team play in San Jose mid week, at least have them visit LA or Portland the weekend before or after so they can just stay out there for a few days and not have to adjust the time change twice. It would even save Jay a few bucks on flights!
This field looks terrible. Is their grounds crew just a bunch of goats? Also, I think Wagner was lucky to just get that yellow card.
In real time it looked like Collin fouled him, but in slow more it looks a lot more like shoulder-to-shoulder Edit: the VAR gods have really been on the Union's side tonight, huh?
Back up to second. The Union are still in play for 1st. They need NE to beat NYCFC this weekend AND defeat Columbus. That would put the Union down three points and even on wins with NYCFC. A win at home the Sunday after would give the Union the #1 seed with total wins giving the Union the tiebreaker.
2 games to go and still viable for 1st in Conference. Amazing season. Has ForthePenquin posted his excel sheet recently?
While this is awesome, it is a lot that has to go right, dare I say perfect. That being said... Would you rather finish first, guarantee Champions League and bow out of the playoffs early OR finish second, maybe make Champions League and make a deep playoff run? (I know there are other possiblities).
