What the hell position has Escobar been playing? In the line-up, he’s at LB, but it seems like LGP has been playing left back.

The graphic lineups they've been showing recently (either via United's twitter feed or on TV) have been hit or miss. So don't take those as gospel. But in the last two games, with the 3-5-2, Escobar has been the right CB, with Robinson in the middle and LGP at left CB. Gressel is playing RWB, with another body playing LWB (please please please get well soon Bello).

AJC reporting Josef is expected to miss the NYC match with his adductor strain. So that sucks.

On the bright side NYCFC has a match tonight (vs HOU), so hopefully they'll be a little more weary coming into Sunday's game.

Sadly, a 10 man Houston pissed away a 2-1 lead with only 10 to play. And man let say this, Yankee Stadium is a soulless place to play football.

I just visited the NYCFC board, wow. And I thought the Orlando board was a sad and lonely place. The irony of ironies is one of their more popular threads is titled "Popularity and worldwide potential of NYCFC". I perused some of the initial comments, comedy ensued. Last post was August 1st... of 2018.

Well if we played on a miniature golf course; we might be unhappy too.

What’s sad is NY fans complained about having a team in Jersey and named after an energy drink, but truth be told, I’d be much more proud of the Red Bulls than that abomination that is NYCFC, aka Chivas 2.0

Chivas 2.0 is what Galaxy fans call LAFC, I've come to notice... I tend to think of NYCFC as Man City C myself.

This definitely is not limited to something Galaxy fans say.

Expansion Draft 2019 (Inter Miami & Nashville)

    We can protect 12 players.

    Guys I’d protect:

    Josef Martinez
    Emo Hyndman
    Ezequiel Barco
    Darlington Nagbe
    George Bello
    Brad Guzan
    Miles Robinson
    Justin Meram
    Julian Gressel
    Leandro Gonzalez Pirez
    Franco Escobar
    Eric Remedi

    Unprotected, big boy picks
    Tito Villalba
    Pity Martinez
-If Nashville or Miami want to shoulder their salary; I’d be confident we could find better players in the market. Note: in 2018, there’s no way I would have said that about Villalba, but he’s been unimportant for FdB in 2019.

Guys who I think Nashville or Miami would be smart to snag:
    Brandon Vasquez
    Andrew Carleton
    Florentine Pogba
    Dion Pereira

*Honestly, they would be smart to try and snag any of those guys.

    No way they grab:
    Kann
    Moore
    Adams
    Shea
    Parkhurst
    Larentowicz
    Ambrose
    Goslin
    Luiz Fernando
    Kunga
    Okonkwo
    Gallagher
    Hernandez

Hyndman is on loan I believe so there is no need to protect him

I know Pity gets all the hate, but there is absolutely no way he goes unprotected. If Atlanta is done with him they can sell him back to River Plate at a loss, but there's no way after one year they'd let him go for free after spending that much money on a transfer fee. His salary is peanuts compared to that. That's just bad business. Even if the selecting team didn't want him, they could pick him up and sell him for a tidy profit.

Tito is an interesting choice. I'm with you that he doesn't seem to fit what FdB wants to do, but you could also sell him for a bit of money instead of letting him go for free. And playing against him is something no fan wants to see.

Atlanta is going to face some hard choices. Seems like they're probably going to lose someone this draft.

BTW homegrown players are automatically protected so you don't have to use a spot on Bello. Generation Adidas players are also protected, so you could also save another spot from Miles, but I don't know how the rules work when the players "graduate", and they start counting against the cap and are unprotected.

If we could get away with not protecting GA/DP (Miles, Bello) then I would say go ahead and protect Pity and Tito.

I believe we can only lose, ONE, player if I’m correct...

If that’s the case, if I’m Nashville or Miami then I’m hoping like hell that Dion Pereira remains open. Although, I favor Vasquez it Pogba; Pereira is the type of youth/speed player that I would feel safe been an excellent option coming off the bench.

Pereria is super young, I'd think he'd be a prime target... but I admit I don't know all the expansion draft rules (and don't want to learn, the salary cap rules are already convoluted enough for me).

It's almost noon on the East coast, but still no word on Josef's injury.

It is a Sunday, so lot of folks still @ church or being lazy. Chances are if he's getting an MRI or some type of thorough exam it's gonna be later in the day.

I guess I was thinking that injuries were assessed ASAP these days, but I haven't broken or torn anything in years. I genuinely expected an 8AM or so MRI and news within a couple of hours. That's probably too much to ask, and might give the Man City Micropitchers a chance to plan definitively for his absence.

I'm sure that's a possibility but I imagine it also depends on the suspected nature of the injury. If they assessed that he's for sure out Wednesday then there may be no need to rush the testing. I'd think pro teams don't want to pay the premium for ER visits, either!

Sharing ownership/facilities with the Falcons would mean they've got MRI and X-ray capability within Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and a doc on payroll. The doc is probably with the team in Indianapolis, though.

    Yeah, good point.

That had crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure what the Benz had in house, and I didn't think about the gridiron team being out of town.
