    In order Arena, GBS, Porter.

I can't stand Arena but to not choose the most successful coach in MLS history over Porter would be ridiculous.

But your most successful coach lost the most important game for the USA against T&T which kept us out of the WC; a tournament you said we have no business ever not making. And you want that guy even with that blemish?

Oh that was terrible. No doubt. I absolutely hold it against him. As I said, I hate the guy.

If you have been paying attention to my issues and frustrations with Caleb Porter you may also remember he had a full qualifying cycle to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, another tournament we should never not make. He lost to CANADA 2-0 and drew El Salvador leaving some of our players without the international tournament experience that continues to haunt us years down the line. So yeah, his failures reach beyond the MLS level.

You gave me a choice of three, I’m more than comfortable with my choice.

And now, my friend I wish you cheers from a rather MLS level Korean Air Lounge as I head to the land of Pedro Santos. Maybe by the time I return Porter would have vaulted is into 10th in the conference, or out of what would be the relegation zone of a serious league.

    Glory to Columbus.

Safe travels. Bring us back another central defender. Maybe even a 6 or an 8.

I’m hoping Porter has seen the light tonight and commits to a quick counterattacking tactic for the remained of this year and next.

One loss in the last 10 matches. A win at Atlanta (waiting for Hangs excuse because they're not a 10th or 12th place team). Piatti's Montreal loses to, wait for it, Cincinnati at home. The Revs guided by Arena and led by Bou managed a 3-3 draw. We're 4-5-1 in the last 10 for 17 points, the Revs are 4-4-1 in their last 9 for 16.

    On to Vancouver....

Greetings from the 6:14 am train from Lagos to Porto, Dennis! Obviously, I didn’t see the game, but like you I am pleased with the result! I watched the 3 1/2 minute highlight and from that Diaz looked very good, Gyasi took care of business, and Guzman looks like some barely in shape guy taken off a sandlot.

So, I see no need to make excuses for my 11th place team winning 3-1 against a team they were trailing by 17 points coming into tonight. On any given Saturday or Sunday, these things can happen, and I’m glad we were on the winning end.

Sadly, I again look at the lost and missed opportunities that have us where we are and unable to move up in the standings despite the pedestrian effort of the Revs, Orlando, Montreal, and Chicago. But when you only have 2 wins in your last 7, it’s hard to make up much ground. When a team throws away draws or wins after the 75th minute 7 or 8 times like Porter’s Crew has this season, 11th place is sort of our destiny (thankfully we held on last night, especially with FCC winning!)

Meanwhile, I can’t help but be struck by the fundamental difference in the two fan bases of the team’s playing tonight. FDB took over a team somewhat in transition having lost Almiron, far and away their most influential player despite Josef’s goals. All FDB has done is deliver a US Open Cup, a Campeones Cup (whatever the hell that is) and has them in the top 3 of the Eastern Conference and a large contingent of the fan base and the media wants him fired.

Meanwhile in Columbus, we look at a a win over FCC, 2 wins in 7 games, too many dropped points to count, missed opportunities galore,,and consolidation of 11th place in the East as signs of #progress.

On to Vancouver indeed. The most MLS of all late season MLS matchups. 22nd VS 23rd in the league. On team eliminated from post season, the other barely hanging on to mathematical hope. Neither likely to face any consequences for the disaster-class they have put in front of their fans this season.

But like a Dickens character coming back for another helping of gruel we say, “thank you sir, may I have some more.” It may be awful, but it’s our awful. And after all we should just be thankful we have a team.

On to Vancouver indeed. One week closer to the eventual merciful end of the Caleb Porter era. But let’s grab those 3 points first.

    Glory to Columbus.

    Porter Out.

I always appreciate a good response although yours is lacking. Yes, we have two wins since August. I choose a better starting point which is the end of the transfer window. Since then, both the Revs and us have 4 wins. But I'll humor you and agree that we have left points on the table by only winning two games since August started. You again fail to see that the Revs have won a whooping....drum roll.... 1 game since then. Arena's magic is losing steam.

I know you have this desire to see Porter go. I understand that it's painful to see someone who don't like, or even plain hate, at the helm. I'm a glass half-full and prefer to focus on the 10 game stretch we've had which includes road wins at NYRB and Atlanta, plus a tie away at Chicago and San Jose. Three of these four are tough away assignments for any team.

Yes, we're clinching 11th place and there's a good chance that we'll be below the playoff line but for this hell of a season with a change in ownership and all the injuries we've had (I haven't seen a team go through so many injuries to key players with the exception of the Cleveland Indians in baseball this year), these last 10 games have shown a very good upward trend. I'll continue to see what the next off-season and the winter transfer season brings us before hitting the panic button that you have worn down.

The Blue Jackets lost more than 500 man games to injuries in 2014-15. Beating the next closest team by a substantial margin. That's the only other one I can think of.

We are in 11th place. Since the transfer window we are one point better than a Revs team who you claim is losing steam, and that Revs team has a game in hand. In another thread you claimed the Atlanta match was the first time that Porter had the team ready to play 90 in a long time.

As we wind down the awful dinner party that is the 2019 Columbus Crew season it’s time for one last drink. If the glass is half full you chose the cheap grocery store Mondavi, which is fine. It’s a “I’m just happy to have another glass, but I don’t expect too much,” choice. But some of us would rather have the nicer Italian Barolo. Or, good lord even a Oregon Pinot Gris.

But did you hear his Guzman is better than most ppl think comment? Totally absurd the guy is a lazy out of shape hack. He can pass the ball pretty good. My fear is that he will be on the team next year

This piece of shit declined to talk to the Dispatch after he blew another lead today. The friendliest, most ready to make excuses for him reporters possible.

Please, tell me this guy isn’t a coward. Please tell me again what a stand up guy he is.

He’s a stain on this club and needs to go.

So, I've heard from a few people now that that particular Dispatch writer isn't the most well liked and has a bit of an attitude problem, but Porter needs to be an adult and talk to the kid.

A few things here tangentially related to firing the worst coach in Columbus Crew history, and more related to the state of our club as a whole.

This was a must win game. Not even a year from a time when we weren’t even sure we would have a team this year. The Dispatch couldn’t even be bothered to send out one reporter to cover the game. Do they not have rewards points? Columbus is not a soccer city.

At least without talking directly to the Dispatch, Caleb Porter got all of his blame shifting and throwing the team under the bus done in one fell swoop. He claims this is a team that doesn’t even know how to kick the ball out of bounds at the end of the game. Columbus Crew is not a playoff worthy team.

With yet another blown lead, or “a Porter” as it’s come to be known around the league, one might think Caleb would consider some self reflection. Absolutely not. It’s everyone’s fault but Caleb Porter’s. All systems are go on Coachbot 9000k. Commence throwing your players under the bus.

Caleb Porter’s idea of self reflection is watching Under Armour commercials on an endless loop and reciting them like a Buddhist prayer.

Save my club. Fire Caleb Porter.
