I just got around to watching the Leagues Cup final between Cruz Azul and Tigres. Man, MLS didn't take this tournament seriously but Liga MX sure did. That final was as intense as a world cup final and the fans were really into it. This year it was 8 teams, next year will be 16 teams. I heard they want to eventually expand it to 32 teams. The honor of first Leagues Cup champions goes to Cruz Azul. What a game. For the Quakes to qualify for the Leagues Cup next year (assuming LAFC will win the supporters shield): 1. If a western team (who is not the Quakes) wins MLS Cup then the Quakes must finish in 6th place or better 2. If an eastern team wins the cup the Quakes must finish in 5th place or better.

Poor Watford, only 15 minutes in and already down 5-0 to Man City. It must feel horrible to be out of a game by the 15th minute. Now it's 7-0 in the 60th minute, what a slaughter.
Minnesota Portland 0-0 result in Portland. Quakes are tied in points with Portland, ahead of the Timbers on 3rd tiebreaker of goals scored.
We have a game in hand vs Dullas, but their last two games (KC and CO) are against teams already out of it. I think our game vs Portland is going to to be the final chapter of ‘decision day’, with the winner getting into the playoffs and the loser hitting the links on Sunday..
Valeri in contract squabble with the Timbers. https://theathletic.com/1237701/201...-in-2020-thanks-to-impasse-over-new-contract/
Iron Front flags: https://www.espn.com/soccer/mls-all...ls-suspends-ban-on-iron-front-flag-for-season
If Iron Front flags are allowed, any political banner should be. I'm gonna try to get me a Betsy Ross flag for Sunday. https://www.flaghouseonline.com/
You might want to rethink that, as it's associated with white supremacists groups. This happened in Salt Lake City: https://www.deseret.com/sports/2019/9/8/20853083/utah-real-salt-lake-betsy-ross-flag You're in Northern California not far from the Bay Area, someone will notice you're trying to be an white supremacist antagonist.
Oh I know it is geographically, it's just that some people don't think of it that way.sociologically.
I'm aware that MLS thinks the Betsy Ross version of the American flag is political. No one will "notice" I'm "trying to be a white supremacist antagonist" because that is not what I'm trying to do. I'm open to suggestions for alternative flags to make the point that MLS' no politics policy needs to go, in its totality.
Railroad yard in San Jose I wandered desolate in front of a tank factory and sat on a bench near the switchman's shack. A flower lay on the hay on the asphalt highway --the dread hay flower I thought--It had a brittle black stem and corolla of yellowish dirty spikes like Jesus' inchlong crown, and a soiled dry center cotton tuft like a used shaving brush that's been lying under the garage for a year. Yellow, yellow flower, and flower of industry, tough spiky ugly flower, flower nonetheless, with the form of the great yellow Rose in your brain! This is the flower of the World. -- Allen Ginsberg (San Jose, 1954) https://www.best-poems.net/allen_ginsberg/in_back_of_the_real.html
