can only stat watch, but psv were getting out possessed 40 to 60 at the half and wildly outshot. they really turned it around in the second half to end this right around 50/50. hopefully that is owing to richies contributions
It was encouraging when it comes to his ability right now against fellow kids his age seeing it was vs. AZ's reserves, so displays his potential. However, in the games against men, which was the other 4, he didn't have a goal or assist, and in the one I saw he was getting knocked off the ball so I think it's going to take time until he gets stronger so is ready for the top level.
Well if you believe what you read in the Alex Mendez thread, 19 is too old to improve the physical aspect of your game, so I guess he's screwed.
meanwhile back on earth 1 this same ledezma beat a team of french kids who were mostly all already receiving first team minutes in top 5 leagues down the field on a beautifully intricate counterattack
It depends what that physical aspect is. If it's strength, I'd wholeheartedly disagree. Get time to adjust to a late growth spurt, eat more, build muscle, and some nasty as you mentally mature. If it's speed, then I'd more or less agree. There's only so much training you can do in that department. You are what you are based on genetics and early development. The deficiency would in all likelihood have to be a byproduct of having poor fitness, i.e.: McKennie early w/ Schalke.
That's the opposite grounded perspective. The key word was kids. They were still teens. It was also part of one performance. You could use the argument to act like Adu arrived back in the day. Not that I'm implying Ledezma is the next Adu. I'm high on the long-term prospects of the former and wasn't for the latter. But he still has a lot to prove and physical development to withstand the rigors against men is likely required.
no doubt french kids but also french kids that played week in and week out vs adults and generally did well enough and were thought highly enough of to have very high transfer valuations to boot.
What I can find about today's match: Ledezma went 90'. Ledezma received a yellow card in the 60th minute. From the PSV fans website (translated): "Ledezma had the best chance of the match, but he was unable to score." Pynadath and Ledezma: Grote kans! Ledezma krijgt op aangeven van Sidibe de mogelijkheid om te scoren, maar de middenvelder stuit op de doelman. 65' #JAJJPS 1-0 pic.twitter.com/ydWeI5CXmt— PSV (@PSV) September 16, 2019 (Translation: "Ledezma was given the opportunity to score by Sidibe, but the midfielder encountered the goalkeeper.")
Sure, but styles make fights, as they say. They wouldn't test him strength and savvy wise as a team w/ a median age of 25 would. That's what I'm saying is his issue now when it comes to readiness..what to do when an opponent puts a shoulder into him and recognizes his literal weakness at this stage. I'm inclined to believe it's not a coincidence he played disproportionally well against against a virtual youth team like the AZ II squad vs. the senior/1st team sides he's faced in the Eerste Divisie.
Well, the whole purpose of the Young teams in this league is precisely to harden them in matches against men ( see the Malen article I posted) who arenot going to give kids a nice day out. You can't be prepared if you have no clue what you're going to face in the real pro world, instead of the boys matches.
Highlights here. Definitely had a good chance but didn't get to the ball fast enough to have multiple finishing options and the keeper made a play.
Report here that the FMF has contacted PSV dual national Richard Ledezma about potentially representing Mexico. The answer was positive, according to the report, and the player is open to coming into a Mexico camp. #eltrieng https://t.co/qUP2qwUvOU— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) September 17, 2019
Of course he's open to it according to the report, they're not going to say he wants nothing to do with El Tri.
yeah no doubt. this is obviously frustrating, but they basically would need to offer a first team cap to really entice richie to make a one time switch. this at a time where there is a gaping hole in his position for the usmnt and fairly or unfairly el tri doesnt look great with the jona treatment. just not fun as a usmnt fan
Somehow my Google translates it differently "Richard Ledezma was already contacted by the FMF so that in the future he represents @miseleccionmx he found the option interesting and is willing to go to a call". Instead of " and the player is open to coming into a Mexico camp".
It looks like "convocatoria" is used pretty commonly as we might use "call-up." La convocatoria de México para la mini concentración México anuncia lista de convocados para partido contra Islandia y Croacia
Who cares, nothing to see here! Sure, the Scuffed guys reporting he's heard NOTHING from Egg or US leadership. But as others say here, all is well, he's committed, let him SETTLE IN in Holland. Then, if he chooses Mexico, it's "if a phone call means that much to him, good riddance!"
