FYI, that is how Jason Kreis is playing him for the U-23 team. Deeper than how he played under Ramos with the U-20s

Speaking of Kreis. Has Ledezma been called to the team and not released by PSV?

Alex belongs a little deeper. He’s not really a plus dribbler and his penchant for good passes disappears in the final third. He’s careless with possession in a way an attacking mid can’t really afford.

Playing him deeper allows him to see more of the field and make the kind of pass that unlocks a defense. He can also arrive a little later and shoot, or take direct free kicks.

careless with possession...deeper in the midfield?

that's worse than the same thing higher up!

    multiple times worse no?

Not really. I think he rushes in the final third and takes bigger risks than necessary which causes possession loss. He doesn’t do that as much when he’s in a deeper position.

It’s more of a mental issue than a technical issue.

He may end up being one of those guys who scores more on 30 yard bombs than he does from in the box...

Now he's playing with alarming frequency - needs to pace himself.

Jong Ajax numbers players 1-11 in the Dutch numbering system game by game. So based off that graphic, Mendez is wearing #10.

Pynadeth in there because Jong Ajax is short a few players with CL match tomorrow. But a great sign they called him up for this match.

Fairly sure it is not being broadcasted in the Netherlands so no stream.

    Opportunities on both sides.

Schoonbrood sees his shot turned and Ruiter saves well on a shot by Mendez.

Highlights here. Definitely had some involvement, and his first shot was a wicked one that the keeper really made a great play on. Tons of movement and hidden by a defender almost its entire flight.

Damn, so not only are these games actually recorded, they're recorded well with great picture quality and camera work. As second division teams are they broadcast normally or as youth teams are they less widely available? Do we need one of those scouting apps to have access? I say we all go in on one and share the password.

Fox Sports in the Netherlands has the rights and doesn't do all matches. As you can see from the crowd, there isn't a ton of interest from the big clubs in their youth teams although they normally show Jong Ajax. But I think if it's youth vs. youth they're much less inclined to select those games.

  19. Youth teams themselves donot draw much fans at home matches, maybe a couple of hundreds on a good day. The experience gets interesting for the kids when they visit clubs that are in a fight for either the title=direct promotion or for one of the promotion spots. Those matches tend to be visited well by the fans.

    The basics were;
JongAjax down to Go Ahead Eagles 1-0 at halftime

Ekkenlenkamp scores for JA in the 58th minute

    Finishes 1-1

    That is all I know

I googled the game. Mendez did not have the assist. Also of note Jong Ajax striker missed a pk in the 89 th.

Bench again... until one of Eiting/Ekklenkamp/Graverbersh are full time on Ajax, he isn't going to start. Those 3 are just way better than him. Eiting should be full time back to Ajax first team once he's fully fit.
