Kind of surprising that they would pay for 4th officials to fly all the way in from say NZ just to do 4ths...
Saudi Arabia, man. Also, a lot of these 4ths could come back later to do whistles, if history is instructive. I do notice that we don't see the big-name UEFA referees yet. I know it's a difficult time for that with the start of the seasons, but part of me wonders if the guys looking to get to EURO 2020 know they can't spend time in the Saudi league right now. So maybe the Saudi league becomes a money making exercise in the off-years but not in the years that determine major tournament participation. Marciniak, Makkelie and Soares Dias will be names to watch for.
That was my thought process. The European guys in that list are the "lower tier" FIFAs. Might be a sign of what to expect this year.
