The club sent scouts to watch his most recent game this past weekend. He could arrive as early as December. San Lorenzo fans say he has been their best player this season and that he is worth $5-10 million. When we signed Mokhtar, it was reported that his contract would expire at the end of the 2020 season.
Fans are stupid. Let’s see what the market has this kid at. 5-10 million is a hefty price for a guy whose only scored 3 goals in 20 games.
I’m old enough to remember when we were told we will be okay because our new owners are the Browns owners and they have turned the team around and are ready to win. Bad day for that horseshit narrative.
The Browns have a better roster they won’t win the division. They have a unproven coach and a young team that will need to bike chemistry. I’m a Bengals fan and tried to tell them to pipe down on that win the division talk. Better hope for a wildcard
I'm old enough to remember when you were a more creative, less lazy writer and didn't used to start so many posts with "I'm old enough to remember..."
So..... Room went 90 minutes in Curacao's 1-0 win over Haiti. Zardes started and played the first 67 minutes of the USMNT's 3-0 loss vs Mexico. Trapp also started, and was subbed out in the 77th minute, while the score was still 1-0. Luis Diaz was subbed on in the 68th minute of Costa Rica's 2-1 loss vs Uruguay, getting his first ever cap with the full Tico national team. Guzman was an unused substitute. Curacao has a game at Haiti in a few days. The US hosts Uruguay in St Louis in a few days, with 6 players returning to their club teams. So that means the US roster goes from 26 down to 20 players. Costa Rica only had that one game scheduled for this window. They return to action in October with Nations League games against Haiti and Curacao.
How much is this guy likely to cost us? If we did sign him that would give us 4 international wingers . So how many intl spots do we have next year ? Truecrew which guys under contract are taking a intl spot ? Also isn't it a possibility That with expansion teams coming that each team will be increasing from 8 spots to 9 or 10
Artur occupies an international slot, but he just married a local. I think he can adjust status and get a green card before next season and no longer occupy a slot.
Artur is not listed as an international player on the MLS roster page. He got a green card earlier this year: https://www.massivereport.com/2019/...-international-slot-allocation-money-mls-2019 Our current international players are: Diaz Mokhtar Room Santos Sosa I'd think that Santos might qualify for permanent residency status fairly soon. He's been with the Crew as long as Artur.
Well that makes sense... I got that info from the crew's roster page on Artur: https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/players/artur. Doesn't seem that's updated.
Yeah, I see. Under the "Acquired" part of his entry: I mean, I'm sure he did... in 2017. Which reminds me, Abubakar got his green card this year, too. So even if he comes back to the team from being on loan with Colorado, he won't count as an international player, either. Of course, the new CBA makes it hard to know what the roster rules will be next year, anyway.
So we can always cut Sosa or loan him , sell him or even buy another intl spot . We need to get a 10 & 8 more than anything else if we really want to be serious
Plus, we will be back to 8 spots for next year. Cadden will likely take one as well, but I am not sure about that. And I believe Valenzuela is an INT as well. Just not counting as one at the moment. So we really have 7 if my count is correct.
Just realized I had not done a post Niko update. Thought he closed well last year. Was hurt in pre-season & never really got going under Porter. A. I agree but he is better than anyone on this team and i don’t want to see Clark or Guzman. I hope we get a better player to start @ the 8. Trapp is going to be our 6 without a doubt . If we moved Trapp to Europe it would be a win -win
My dream for next season: 1) Pipa & Santos stay. 2) We have enough Garberbucks to buy down Santos, Mensah, & Pipa. Or at least 2 of them. Neither Diaz nor Valenzuela count as a young DP. 3) We land 1-2 DPs (however many spots we have left). One is a winger/CAM type. We go with Diaz, Pedro, and new DP behind Zardes. 4) We land Nagbe in the off-season as an 8, helping to offset Pedro's lack of playmaking in the middle. Artur becomes the primary backup to Trapp & Nagbe. Rico stays one more year. He and Guzman are fine as the #4/#5 CMs. We draft a CM with our first pick. 5) Afful stays. Protected players: Keita & Crognale safe as HGs + Diaz, Valenzuela, Santos, Zardes, Mensah, Room, Trapp (I think we must use a spot on him, unsure), Afful, Artur, Jimenez, Argudo, Abubakar. If Pipa wants to stay, protect him & try to see if Colorado will trade for Lalas. If we don't need to protect Trapp, then Cadden if we need to, if not, Maloney or Waylon.
It would look something like this: First XI: Room; Afful, Mensah, Keita, Valenzuela; Trapp, Nagbe; Diaz, Santos, new DP; Zardes. 2nd XI: Kempin; Cadden, J. Williams, Abubakar, Jimenez; Artur, new signing/draft pick; Argudo, Pipa, Mohktar; R. Williams. Third 7: Lundgaard; Crognale, W. Francis, Maloney; Clark, Guzman; JJ Williams. Last spot: Opoku v Hamilton v Sosa. Or new signing.
