The 'Quakes haven't won without him. I just think that's something worth mentioning

 

I agree. Our other options for outside midfielders falls off very considerably after Espinoza and Vako.

I received an email today from the Quakes advertising the "West San Jose Neighborhood Night" for the game on September 25th. Opportunity to buy a Neighborhood Night pennant, discount on tickets, invitation to participate in a pregame activity, all because I live in West San Jose!
But, I don't, I live in East San Jose, and technically actually east of East San Jose, in unincorporated Santa Clara County, not anywhere near West San Jose. I have never lived in West San Jose and they have only ever had my current address. I respectfully declined their geographically challenged offer, not wanting to misrepresent my hood.

 

I received an email today from the Quakes addressed to Donald. I respectfully ignored it, not wanting go by that name.

 

Are you getting his email again?

The office won't be without power, but maybe employees live in areas that will lose power.

 

Avaya Stadium is being used as a relief site for people who need to charge up phones, medical equipment or need air conditioning. Actually a very cool thing the Quakes have done to assist those without power. Of course their cheapskate owner won’t get any street cred for this....

The Iron Front flags were being discussed on both the Other Team Results and the Honest Discussion re the Ultras threads.

Frankly, I think the issue has applicability across a number of threads. The fundamental issue is MLS' hypocritcal no politics policy, for which it will make an exception, when push-comes-to-shove from the mob, for one political viewpoint. Similarly, we see the NBA's alleged free-speech policy has an exception when push-comes-to-shove from Chinese communists. The common thread is that sports-league honchos always make the short-sighted money grab, the Stalinists (in Portland and Seattle) and the Moaists (in China) get their way through gangster tactics, while the rest of us unwashed get to suffer without actual free speech.

There are broader lessons, as well, but there is a no-politics policy on BigSoccer, too.
