Obviously would be ecstatic to see Oranje winning away in Germany, but realistically, I would be happy with a point. Germany look awfully strong and Koeman just simply doesn't have the attacking force to create (multiple) goals. Maybe a well-designed (or lucky, who cares!) counter-attack or set-piece could sneak into a goal, but then the defense must hold awfully tight not to concede. It's too bad that Germany at home resulted in a "L" - that really hurt the calculus. I still think the best chance to qualify is finishing second by beating Northern Ireland, twice!
This is a report on Dest here in the U.S... from NBCSports: “Dest has represented the U.S. at the U-20 and U-17 levels and cap-tying him is absolutely a priority, but the player has a rising reputation in Holland and may want to see if he can swim to the top of a wide defender pool which includes in-prime players like Terrence Kongolo, older players like Daley Blind, Daryl Janmaat, and Patrick van Aanholt as well as young prospects Denzel Dumfries (PSV) and Kenny Tete (Lyon).” In-prime Kongolo and young prospect Tete.
Dest has given an interview () in which claims the KNVB has approached him to have a meeting. They want him, not yet for the first team but for the U23, which by the way doesnot exist. At the same time he has told several outlets (VI/AD/Telegraaf) the KNVB never has contacted him just before he went to the States. I wonder why he tells two different stories and which one is true.
Gnabry will play, but Goretzka, Sané and Draxler will not. I'm going to miss this game because I have ozone treatment. I would appreciate if you guys could give live updates during the game as I'll be checking my phone
Analysis of the last three matches against Germany: https://www.ad.nl/nederlands-voetbal/duitsland-versus-oranje-wie-verrast-wie-nog~af845de6/
Blind isn't good enough at LB. Doesn't defend great in space. The lack of fullbacks is quite shocking along with striker. If anyone could step up in those positions, this team would be unreal. I also am sick of Memphis playing as a false 9. I would rather see someone like Weghorst there.
That's the problem with Gini. He can have some excellent games but he is invisible too often. A lot of games he is invisible he is doing a good job of defending so he is still providing value, but with the way Germany is playing there hasn't been much defending making Gini extremely invisible
The problem is I can't really come up with a name from the bench who is really capable of changing the game.
