It's speculative at this stage since they never sold a star at his prime, but they are not PSG. Paris are willing to lose money out of ego and pride. That reflects the real decision makers character in Doha. City is a different, because the owners operate differently. Emiraties are not much better than Qataries when it comes to ego, but they are smarter and they do take decisions based on merit and value. They do look beyond their feet and they do care about long term relationships with potential business partners. I dont want to go into politics, but the actions of the two governments, region wise, in recent years can say a lot about the difference in maturity between the two.
Mariano Diaz stays. [@marca]— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) September 2, 2019 Players can't be forced out anymore. Theme of the summer. Bale, Dembele, Rakitic, Mariano, Dybala...
He’s got a chance to play 35+ games in La Liga and other Spanish tournaments this season. Let him grow
Perez actually brought 5 new players (Kuba, Hazard, Mendy, Jovic, Militao), two youngsters for the future (Kubo and Rodrygo) and James. That isn't bad for revolution. The problem of this window is not about buying new players. It is about selling. Revolution is about changes. How can it be a change when Zidane and Perez keep all the old guards?
I don't think we signed any flops either going by talent and mentality though it's still early. That's key as we can spend money in other positions next summer rather than replacing big money flops with new players.
I figured that Mariano wouldn’t leave, like him as a player but he risks finding himself in the stands though many times this season though. With his quality he would find playing time with us as well, he is 21 not 18, he can do the rest of his growing here, anyways we aren’t going to recall him so the point is moot.
One major problem we’ve ran into is the fact that no one wants to buy our players, James had two suitors who were both cheapskates, Bale had none outside of that Chinese team for example, I guess Kroos and Modric weren’t on the market but I don’t know how much we could have made off of them. Then you have Isco who isn’t want to leave as well as few others. I have a feeling that going forward we’re going to see long contracts less and less.
Agree with this.. the long contracts need to chAnge.. 3 years is ideal for me.. a player’s career is too short to be locking down a player, and for the player to remain in just one club for half of his career regardless of what happens in those 5 years. Throw injuries and huge performance dips, new coaches and you find yourself in a difficult situation.. MU ended up having to pay 3/4 of Alexis’ salary in order to get rid of the player.
Yep I think it would be beneficial for all parties involved, if a player wants to stay longer they could just renew 2 years into their contract.
Guess he's stuck there until 2021. When his price drops in the last year of the deal, there will be competition for him which Raiola can take advantage.
I dont get Mariano's play here. He had his shot last year and unfortunately got hurt and the opportunity past. We moved on, so should he. He can be a real solid player for a non elite club
I knew about the situation about Bale and James. But we now have the problem of loaded roster of highly paid players over 30 years old. Benzema, Kroos, Modric, Ramos, Marcelo and Bale won't be getting younger. Benzema is playing well, but his age will catch him up. Lucas is useless. I am still neutral about Varane and Isco, but some of you probably wants them on the list. James might not be on the top. What's main point? Yes, I talk about revolutiuon this summer, but I did not expect Perez to sell the entire team and create a new team over a single window. I expect him to do it over two to three windows. I mentioned earlier he did the buying right. The revolution begins on that part. But will he sell 9 players in the next two windows?
He is going to regret this decision if he cares about playing at all, one of the reasons Zidane didn’t use Ceballos is because he told him he wouldn’t count on him for the season, that he should go on loan, Ceballos refused and Zidane punished him by pretty much never using him, same will happen to Mariano most likely. Another thing to consider is that Mariano is on 5 mil so many no one else was willing to match that. Next season we should see a few of these leave. And I’m neutral about Varane and Isco as well I just don’t believe the former should be a starter anymore.
Mariano said he wasn’t leaving anywhere and was planning to fight for minutes same as Isco who was apparently put on the transfer list but no one came with a valid offer.
