Oklahoma City voters approved MAPS 4, A $978 million - 16 projects initiative.

The 16 MAPS 4 projects are:

    Parks ($140 million)
    Youth Centers ($110 million)
    Senior Wellness Centers ($30 million)
Mental Health and Addiction ($40 million)
Family Justice Center operated by Palomar ($38 million)
    Transit ($87 million)
Sidewalks, bike lanes, trails and streetlights ($87 million)
    Homelessness ($50 million)
Chesapeake Energy Arena and related facilities ($115 million)
    Animal Shelter ($38 million)
    Fairgrounds Coliseum ($63 million)
    Diversion Hub ($17 million)
    Innovation District ($71 million)
Freedom Center and Clara Luper Civil Rights Center ($25 million)
    Beautification ($30 million)
    Multipurpose Stadium ($37 million)

Backers of the proposed 10,000 seat starter expandable stadium are calling for it to be centrally located, with a design that makes it equipped to handle multiple types of events. It would become the new home of USL OKC Energy FC–which currently plays at Taft Stadium–while also hosting other soccer matches, high school football, rugby, festivals, concerts, and more.

If the proposed 10,000 seat plus stadium is constructed at State Fair Park or on city-owned land then much of the $37.5 million will not be eaten up by infrastructure & parking.

The stadium will have the capacity to expand to meet MLS soccer specific stadium specifications--18,500 (above pic) - 30,000 seats.

    I-235 / I-44 Interchange construction, OKC

One of my grandsons who lives in Texas (they're preparing to move to OKC) saw this area last week; he thought the reddish orange dirt was so neat. "Man, that's so neat, we don't have this color of dirt in Texas."

Progress is painful; however the ends justify the means...

They're so many construction projects throughout the Oklahoma City area that it is really difficult navigate within the city, especially the core (Downtown, Midtown, Bricktown) where construction has gone wild.

Why the need for a new Soccer Specific Stadium which will serve as a multipurpose stadium for the city:

Oklahoma City's current historic Taft Stadium:
Underwent a $25 million remake in which it was downsized from 14,500 seats to 7,500 capacity. The track impedes the ability of the stadium to qualify for U. S. Open cup matches because the pitch is on 67 yards wide--3 yards more need to meet regulations.

The proposed 10k stadium will meet Open Cup regulations. It will be designed for future expansion.

Several designs by Populous are being considered.
