Kroos is a bad fit in double pivot 4-4-2. ZZ sort of replicated his PSG win system, but the key difference was it was Kova then instead of static Kroos. That allowed Case to focus mostly on defense and Kova would run with the ball when there's an opportunity.

And ..Ramos was brilliant that night while he gifted the opener to night. Varane dreadful.

Disappointing start to our season but luckily Barcelona is dropping points too. We can still compete

Leaking so many goals is the main reason why we have only won 2 Ligas this decade. Just look at 2017-18 season when we finished with 76 points and Barca with 93. We scored 94 goals compared to Barca's 99, but conceded 44 while Barca conceded only 29 and 22 by Atletico.

It's so hard if you need to score 3 goals to win the game at places like Villarreal. Pretty much every game we concede silly goals through individual mistakes and FBs not tracking back. Tonight it was Ramos gifting first goal and Varane being atrocious throughout. And then you have players like Kroos gifting the ball in midfield like Vallodolid game when he's supposed to be great on the ball under pressure.

    By far.
The problem is that he's running for two people, he'll under injured himself or just gassed out halfway through the season.

Actually I would have thought a different challenge would be expected and appropriate for a player with his resume.

I think the fact that he was so easily persuaded to change his mind with a pay raise from the club us more telling.

One last thing...It'd be unfair not to give a big shout out to Bale and Zizou on finding a way to work together.

Bale has been very professional during a summer in which everyone wanted him gone and everyone was vocal about it too (especially me!).

It takes a lot of character for him to keep his mouth shut, be professional and try to help the team.

He can do much better ...but he's had a good start of the season all things considered.

Hats to Zizou for not getting his ego involved and just permanently putting Bale aside.

    We need everyone.

Honestly it might make Zidane seem like a swell guy but what kind of message does it send to the rest of the squad (especially the more impressionable younger players) to let him get away with what has quite frankly become a history and pattern of unprofessional and selfish behavior.

Disappointing result, but we're lucky that Barca dropped points also. Atletico are leading the table right now and their defense is a lot more structured than ours. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop minimal points and win it all. Early season, but Real Madrid are giving out goals like candy. It's a nightmare. We never get clean sheets!

By the way, really happy to see Gareth Bale put in a top class performs. We really need this version of him as often as possible this upcoming season.

    • I wont talk about Zidane, everyone knows how i feel about it. I'm glad a lot of people coming round now. I guess iscodisco ain't so crazy. The quicker he leaves the better. Absolutely clueless. A fraud.
    • Despite Jovic's amazing guti-esque backheel in the match, the guy looks incredibly mediocre. Incredibly underwhelming player. Jamie vardy. Is this much of an upgrade on mariano?
    • Vinicius. Man i'm worried. I'd like to blame it all on ZZ but that's not the truth. I am worried we have been sold a lie on this kid too. I really hope not. One of the worst performances I've seen. Doesn't even look like a first division player right now. What the ******** happened?!
I expect things to get worse till ZZ finally leaves. I dread to think what will happen when we face a decent team with good attacking players.

Huh? You must have missed the numerous times his agent talked then.

Anyway, I don't really have much to offer for this game. I'm really, really disappointed. Positives were Mendy making a very solid debut, and Bale. Defensive lapses continue to haunt us. Ramos with one on the first, and Casemiro with one on the second.

What is still haunting me is Varane always keeping them onside.

Even last week he kept them on side. He steps up and we're disastrous.... but have nine points.

Yeah that first goal was just a mess of mistakes... But I always go with the first one. You've got to be smarter with the ball. Two weeks in a row, dumb mistake giving the ball in our own half leading to a series of mistakes and a costly goal.

Yeah that bothered me too. Might as well go in aggressive in that situation. You're ********ed in 1 vs. 3 situation.

Ramos not only makes the mistake but has the opportunity to fix it and decides against it, leaving the responsibility to somebody else. He could have grabbed the shirt, got a booking and stopped the attack. Instead he decides against it hoping somebody else will stop the player running at goal.

Noticed him yelling at others a few times and I wondered how many would be thinking "fix your own sh*t first". Everybody has had team mates like that. Doing zero defensive work but telling everybody how much and how to defend.

Teams know to press us deep now, its been an issue for some time now, we are just susceptible to pressure and too static off the ball.

Entertaining game, bad result. Last week was on ZZ, this week is 40% his fault.

Vinicius man... I never really saw what the hype was all about even coming into the season, but this is unwatchable. Loan the kid out.

That’s not even unrealistic. I’m a zizou supporter but man he’s been garbage lately. It’s just the truth.

It’s just the start of the season tho. Teams often stumble out of the gate and then find their stride and everything is ok. I hope that’s the case with us.

Very very disappointing 2 results and horrible performances from so many players. It’s like nothing changed from the end of last season.

We'd have lost 2-0 or sth at Villarreal the way we ended last season as we were lethargic on both ends then. I think we have done fine offensively in all three games, it's just school boy gifts from Ramos, Kroos that has cost us. Also the fact that Varane has been a weaklink. Hopefully ZZ will stop showing Varane too much love and give a chance to Valladolid instead.

These silly errors are very worrying, but I can't say this season is going to end badly based on these three games. We had three consecutive draws early in 2016-17 season and performances were similar. Difference was that players stepped up and stopped making silly defensive errors somewhat . Still needed some miracle late wins like 3-2 at Villarreal, Deportivo 3-2 win, Clasico late equalizer, Isco late winner at Sporting and a few more.

Basically, we struggled defensively then too(but not as bad as 2017-18) and many late goals saved us. Always hard when you need to score 3 to win games away from home. At least we showed some fighting spirit after going down twice yesterday.

One of the negative aspects of this team is that unless you're a Madrid fan invested in the team and the result, the team in pretty unwatchable. Barely anything to get excited about.

Mendy with a superb debut in my opinion, but these defensive lapses are going to cost us everything once again. Ramos and Varane need to get their shit together ASAP. This is can't go on for too long.

I mean, we basically started 1-0 behind, because of Ramos' brainfart. Ridiculous!

Im more worried about Varane. He became awful liability, his passing meh and he cannot do ANYTHING on corners, or set pieces like Ramos.
