Too true. I will be doubling my budget for prayer candles and enchantments. David Accam will be a man possessed across these last two home matches.
For the record, I hate the word "blame." But, in the context of sports, someone is generally to blame for poor performances. However in real life my father has an idiom that was ingrained in me from a young age and that I try to remember each day: "Airplanes don't just drop out the sky. Airplanes crash as the result of a series of small, uncorrected mistakes."
There's no reason to worry about our owners pulling the pursestrings closed. They are laying out quite a bit of their own money between buying the club, building the new stadium and training complex, and the Confluence Village development. Ten to twenty million to capitalize player purchases is a very reasonable expense in that context and possibly even an investment if we sell players for more than we paid for them ala Steffen.
Not an excuse for the season, but I for one am thankful we even got to see a season. After hearing the FO talk about how it would have been easier to just go dark for a year than to try to play out the season, tells me all I need to hear about the state of the club at the start of the 2019 season. Taking it on the chin as far as scheduling from the league goes helped to put us in this injury riddled position, but I also have to ask, what kind of training staff infrastructure do we even have to treat and manage these guys given the above 'go dark' sentiment. The club took some punches this year, a few in the gut. Shit seasons happen. It's how the club responds to shit seasons that matter to me. I'd like to never see one again. I'd like to see a streak of playoff appearances that solidfy the club as upper tier. Wait and see I guess.
I believe that we haven't discussed the possibility of playing Pedro at left back while shifting Maloney to CB... in this thread.
Why would we give up Maloney’s dynamic abilities to go forward by sticking him in the middle? He needs to be free to run up the wing like Hermes delivering messages for the gods to us mortals.
Reality is, there were quite a few of us that thought the start we had was not sustainable and said as much. Without hyperbole. Nah, that honor is reserved for those that start threads about people that aren't even employed by the club yet. Maybe as you see them. On that we can agree
If Clark is (5’10) healthy would you go with him coming off injury ? otherwise what are our choices R Williams (6’4) ? Hamilton (6’) ? Fat Guzman is 5’9
I'm super excited. For the first time this season, I'm bringing my whole family down today. It'll be my 3-year-old's first match. The weather looks absolutely perfect. Too bad we'll be playing our experimental back line with Trapp (or...Santos? or Guzman?) at CB. 3 in the back? It's all throwaway from here on out anyway. We'll be tailgating around 6 I think. Go Crew!
We're almost getting to a point where we have to do it out of necessity. If we don't have any defenders, play with one less defender.
