Everything you said is debatable. Yes, Bailly showed the glimses of being a great CB, he had some good periods, but he doesn’t have consistency and he has had some brainfarts occasionally. Even more than Smalling. I still belive he can be a great CB, but his injury record seems worrying at least. Lindelof is a joke. I new it from the beginning. Physically inferior to every PL striker, gets mauled every time, his positioning is awful. Not good in the air, slow. Look at the brainfart he had against Crystal Palace last Sunday. Not the first time something similar happend. Why were they willing to let Smalling go? Because Smolling is the worst ball-playing CB there and Ole is forcing the playing from the back with Maguire and Lindelof who are both good technically. Yeah, I like the idea of a defender who is both, good with their feet and good at defending, everyone does, I get it. But people are forgetting that first thing a defender needs to know is defending, not playing flashy passes. Ideally, we would get someone who knows both, but I am satisfied with someone who is really good at defending, and Smalling is definitely that.
Because this is Roma, Smalling will have a massive year and go back to United as we watch with tears on our face... That or he stays mediocre and we drop a ton of points because of the back line.... Either way this is probably ending in tears ...
We are getting a short term cover for Mancini and Cetar to grow, JJ contract runs to end next year so he will play real hard to get a new contract or just leave right after. We will at least sign 2 CB next season end.
The majority of opinions that I read from United fans is that Smalling is better than Rojo, Jones, Baily, and they are rather disappointed to see Smalling leave before every one of them. This tells me that Petrachi knows what he's doing. Honestly, I'm sick to the stomach with Juan Jesus. What we need right now is someone who can DEFEND. From what I read yesterday, Smalling is good at exactly that. So I'm content with this move. Certainly much better than doing Juve a favour by collecting their trash.
This is the Roma sub-forum, how dare you misspell a perfectly good insult!? I'mmortale is gonna have a fit!
I hope to see a starting CD duo of Mancini-Smalling, maybe not immediately but by the time of the October international break hopefully, with Fazio and Jesus the rotation players. At least we have made logical mercato moves this year, a relie after the confusion and waste of the last two years.
lol, I give up. He's better than Jesus if he can acclimatize to Rome, that's it. If you that Lindelof is a joke and Smalling is great defensively, I can't help you.
As someone who occasionally goes to their forum during transfer season I can confirm this. The lack of understanding for the rest of Europe's players/teams is astounding at times. Wan-Bissaka is amazing defensively, though, so their permanent boner for him is at least warranted for once.
#Roma-#Kalinic, ci siamo. Si attende ok anche per Mateus #Vital#calciomercato https://t.co/UOjqjrcWJb— Gianluca Di Marzio (@DiMarzio) August 30, 2019
This summer, literally the only reason Roma fans on twitter and IG were ok with him is because he posted funny memes. Until they saw him play lol.
Just watched a debate regarding whether United should consider bringing back Zlatan. I think I'd rather him than Kalinic just so I could witness the Zlatan vs Dzeko dynamic of whoever had to ride the bench. Obviously Zlatan's wages are an issue, so please don't bring it up as if I don't already know. Kalinic is a bit of a wank, but if he pots a few and we send him back to Spain next summer, it's not the end of the world. Petrachi's doing the right thing filling out the squad with dudes on loan, it's about all we can do and Zappa, Smalling, Kalinic aren't bad dudes to fill a squad with. Vital's intriguing as hell. I'd like it if we got him.
Twitter's a great source for news, but other than that it's the toilet of the internet. Don't do IG at all, so I can't comment on that.
I mean, we've got 5 now: Jesus, Fazio, Smalling, Mancini and Mert... my guess is that's what we're rolling with unless by some miracle someone buys Juan.
Parma are going to buy Matteo Darmian from Man United for €1,5M. No more loan. He’s ready to sign his contract to come back to Italy. 🔴 #MUFC #Parma #transfers— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 30, 2019
