To be clear, I don't think it was a foul, but it is one of those moves that allows the attacker to sell it - and he sold it well. Fritz was crap all game. Wonder how the German press reacted.

I had the game on in the background. In the partial viewing I saw two BMünich handballs and McKennie get mauled in the box. But no calls. At least one of those should have been something.

When VAR first started in the Bundesliga the referee had three choices when contacted by the VAR official - 1) he could ignore it, 2) he could accept it, or 3) he could watch the replay on the monitor and then decide. Anyone know if that's still the case this season? I haven't been able to determine. I just can't see how VAR couldn't have changed at least one of these calls/ non-calls.

The word that keeps popping up in my mind is naive. It was naive of WM to go hands on at that spot regardless of how soft.

IIRC ref missed a pm in the first half with an S04 attacker having his legs taken out. First handball shout in the 2nd half might have been harsh, but can’t understand how in the world the 2nd wasn’t called through VAR.

They are both PKs tho far as I understand it. Spinning with your arm out like that is not natural. If it was a nose he hit it's a PK. They changed the advice recently. But whatevs. It's up to Fritz. He called a very uneven game.

I remember some guy mentioning that Tedesco was the best coach in the Bundi, getting this team of talentless lumps into the Champions League and making them competitive.

They had ONE player who rated, Goretzka. Just one. There were a couple of other good supporting players who left as well.

I would have fired the team and kept the coach.

Wagner is also a pretty good coach, but ain't no blood coming out of this stone.

I don't think Wagner is a good coach. Tedesco is just fairly smart, tightening the defense when the team sucks. Nothing extraordinary about it, just following the Italian prime directive.

Tedesco did not tighten the defense. He kept running out exotic weird formations to confuse other teams and give his side a chance for some kind of a lucky break. He was playing a shell game with no pea. Now everyone else just realized it.

Wags took one of the worst Championship teams in recent memory up to the Prems. In my mind it is harder to turn a squad of $20mm total into a prem team than it is taking a $200mm payroll into the CL. ANyway, the team has no attacking talent what so ever. Not a single player. Long season for everyone.

Nice. But I think Tedesco did his weird formations because in the end it didn't matter, most of the game he was defending with 10.

I just think we need to be realistic ... the Bundlesliga and sponsors are going to do whatever they have to to help Bayern out. Just a fact of life. They have deep pockets and good talent .... but they also are seen and appreciated as the top dog year over year and are going to get the benefit of the doubt routinely. Until some other team just stomps on them a few times - it will not change.

I see him play like this and it makes me wanna see him play in Serie A or La Liga where he can be heralded for his defensive talents and possession traits.

Looked good in that mashup. I might have to start tuning in to Schalke games again.

The point remains but Bradley moved when he was 21 and Weston First played at 18 and was a starter at 19.

He's strong, not fat. Next time some little punk tries to choke him in front of the ref, he should put him to sleep, red cards be damned.

Just had a chance to see the game.
Two things: 1) I love watching Weston play. He leaves it all on the pitch. 2) the ref Fritz did not get the memo from FIFA regarding handballs this year.
