If you really wanted to ******** with people you should have mentioned a flight to Astana The capital of Kazakhstan has changed its name to Nur-Sultan according to Wikipedia.
I meant to say that Vancouver and Portland are the only two really far aways that we have this season, Portland could either be on a commercial airline or chartered if needed, but for any other road trip there is no need of anything else other than a commercial flight at the most. Vancouver if the one that should have been chartered, no questions asked, Rooney is completely on the spot.
Just curious, how does the DCUK podcast land so many player interviews while the more longstanding podcasts like RFK Refugees and Fillibuster rarely (or maybe never?) have players or staff on? I saw there is an offical podcast as well, have not listened to it yet. Roach still does occassional episodes of PitchPass. I see Sarah Kallasy associated with DCUK, I had not seen her work before. But now I see her all over the place. Last random observation, the DCU social media team has a young woman doing the interviews and other content somewhat similar to what Molly Bruh did a few years back. I did like the idea of interviewinf Kamara in the Metro, gave it a real DC flavor.
Sarah is an impressive lady (not least of which you gotta respect for most anyone that went to SAIS/JHU). this mls gig is barely the beginning.
When I listened to the last DCUK one with Quincy Amerikwa he said that was his first player interview. Roche is the only one who consistently talks to real players that I have heard huh, guess I don't follow that DCU account, thought I followed most of them; never seen any interviews on twitter. We saw an old Molly Bruh piece the other day and wondered what she's up to lately. She was nice (at least to us).
The Junkies have been jonesing to get Wayne Rooney on for months. I doubt it would actually happen, but it should before he leaves.
Morning drive time sports radio. I don’t see Wayne blowing bridges up Halsti style in a parting interview though.
"RFK losses" mean the team has to operate on a shoestring budget. Oh wait, this absurd excuse is no longer operational . . . ?
Not sure if it's tragic or hilarious that people really believed that the club budget and underperformance was due to RFK
Can't it be both? Thohir and Levien bought the the team for $60 million in 2012 and when Thohir cashed out his majority share he was certainly tens of millions of dollars richer (if not $100m+). Yet "RFK losses" was a thing. Still pissed! Eff the Red Bulls!
It occurs to me that we still lack a parking revenue stream, which is usually no small thing. That would pay for charters. Are we saving the money for something else? Kamara was a smart get. This off-season will be the test, though. We are going to lose a bunch of talent. We can't play the same waiting games and expect to win hardware. The question remains, is Kasper capable of aggressive dealing, and will the owners give him the financial rope to deal, or is he just here to sew silk purses.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...-youth-soccer-camp-funded-d-c-united-co-owner OK - He grew up in the projects on Coney Island so it’s natural he started this in NY. And I think DCUnited already has a recreational program going here.
This bugs the sh*t out of me. Hard core DCU fans were the standard. Absolute. Not even part of this retrospective. Feels like ownership is happy being second rate as long as their's an income stream. http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/27196264/experience-mls-die-hard-fan And yes they do have an influence on how supporters are covered - did they do enough to encourage the relationship; did the do enough to create a space for high level atmosphere; did they do enough with their own press/social media apparatus to celebrate their hard cores... I could go on, but enough of my bitch stick for now.
Having been to Kaz, I wonder if Air Astana will change its name or if the cycling team will need to change...haha
I've had a moment to calm down and breathe after last night's catastrophe. After a bit of meditation, I've come to accept that this season is over. I think Olsen should go full Bennyball for the rest of the year. I find the team most inspiring when they keep it cynical, professional, and simple: defend like a badger mom whose cubs are surrounded by wolves. Hope for a goal off a corner or a 0-0 draw. Be the team that nobody wants to play. I never want to see Rooney or Acosta in a DC uniform again. They've both checked out and they're just playing out the string. You can't have players like that when you're playing Bennyball. I'll never forget that goal against Orlando and I thank them for their service. But Bennyball needs people with razor blades in their boots. Talent is far less important than commitment. If DC makes the playoffs, they have as good a shot as anyone of nil-nilling it to the Final. Olsen is gone after the season ends in nearly every scenario. The team should represent his dream fulfilled for the rest of the season. Remember how Olsen's last-ever action on the pitch was a spectacular red card in his last game for kicking the ball at an opponent with a high degree of prejudice? That's how his decade of coaching service should end too.
