Every time I watch Carrascal I'm trying to understand if River staff were drunk when they decided to sign him. Good game for Borre, works very hard on the pitch since he started to play for River.
If I’m not mistaken, he has the same agent as Quintero (Rodrigo Riep). He probably rang up D’Onofrio right after the Madrid final saying “I got another one you’re gonna love!”

And he Keeps on making clutch PKs. Considering the ways we have been eliminated in big tournaments due to spot kicks it is something to consider as he continues to improve.
He was included in the 37-man provisional squad released at the end of September, but was cut by Queiroz from the final roster. River would have released him (as we are doing during these FIFA dates with Carrascal for the U23 side and Robert Rojas with the Paraguayan NT), but it appears your coach is prioritizing other forwards at the moment.
Yeah that game reinforced the view that he is a poor finisher and pecho frio in front of goal. Whether it is fair or not, he did not help himself in that game.
He also doesn't fit the type of formation with a front 3 and 2 wide attackers that CQ uses, hypothetically he'd have to play as the 9 and I don't think he's a great fit for that and doesn't seem to be able to operate well wide. Guys like Roger, Muriel, Diaz fit perfectly and also Roger/Falcao/Duvan would seem to be likely to be playing as 9's.
