I can’t argue against three champions leagues in a row. I’m not counting but I’m sure we won almost as much as the ‘greatest Barca ever’ of Messi, Xavi, Ineista. At least in trophies that matter, league and European cups. We certainly outdid them to some extent with back to back to back wins. After that I think it was fair to give Asensio and Isco a shot at becoming a bigger part of the team. They failed at it, and now it is easy to say ‘I knew all along that those players were shit’. When actually they were a big part of something historic. Lucas and Asensio were our super subs. And good at it. Isco came into his own and started running things in our Double winning season. It was only after this that the team as a whole started to play like shit.
They were a part and but not even remotely close to a big one. The CL run was mainly down to Zidane managing and Cristiano, Ramos and Modric willing us to victories. Asensio has always been an inconsistent flash in the pan player; just like Isco. Lucas has always been a hard work effort winger who played because the others couldn't consistenly be relied upon. Bale was always flash of greatness here and there but no consistency. None of this shit has changed. What has changed is we don't have Modric playing for two men. Kroos has turned to shit without the ball (sometimes with it with bad passes). Oh... and Cristiano isn't here to paper over our cracks with his avalanche of goals many underestimated and never truly valued him for providing. These players (Bale, Lucas, Isco, Asensio, etc) aren't players you should rely on. They are players who can beautify a finished product. Our President made the foolish choice to build a team behind them and they fell apart before November.
Like I said I think it was fair to give them a shot. They earned it I think. Never said they were our core players, but they did their job brilliantly for some time. They weren’t always complete shit like some poster was claiming.
Fair? Definitely. A poor gamble? Definitely as well. Many of us knew how it would end up. The issue is we gave them a year. Why are we still giving them (well Isco, Lucas, Asensio) more time? We know what level they are. We should have propped them up and sold to get some kind of return.
We can't sell dead weight so it seems. We can sell a usefull Llorente but Isco , LV and Asensio are kept for what ?
Sad part is we practically gave Llorente away... Asensio is all Florentino. Even in his speeches he talks of Asensio like he is some great future crack like Mbappe. Isco and Lucas are the handiwork of the "Stubborn One".
from CR the greatest athlete ever, first to come to training and last to leave it...to Mariano7 the best first touch in football and fat Hazard
Rumors going around that @YOUNGSTARS87 's shit thread title is the reason Hazard had a poor pre-season.
Lol, real madrid fans are overdramatic. What fat? Bale did more in attack in those 30 minutes he played? Uhm... No. Hazard is always like this in preseason. I even think he wasn't that bad. It's not like he can help it if Zidane plays him out of his best position. It's been said here before but in the game against roma when vini came on and hazard played as a winger in the second half it was much better. Also, hazard won't solve everything, the whole team was shit during preseason. There are a lot of issues that won't be solved by buying hazard or pogba or neymar. Buying expensive players won't be the solution. As for hazard he will be allright when the season starts, quite sure about that.
It’s going to be great watching Hazard inevitably make people eat their words as the season progresses.
Look, some people are just hoovering up any negativity right now and spreading it as fast as they can. But Hazard is a huge money signing and there is nothing wrong with expecting him to be more impactful than he has been this preseason. I'm sure he'll be fine but the guy did come in heavy and hasn't had a consistent impact in any of these matches aside from one. Part of that is likely him not really hitting gear to pace himself, he is a vet and knows his body. But the bigger worry is the setup seemingly not being able to get him the ball and maximize his skill set. He should be played wide, not up the middle. I predict he'll be lively and looking for the ball against Celta, but I also have no issue with reaosnable criticism of his pretty meh showings thus far.
Genuine concerns are one thing but as you said some revels in this, those are the people I’m addressing. Personally I’m not worried about Hazard, it’s early days, you perfectly highlighted some of the reasons why he hasn’t been great so far, on top of the team overall not finding their feet, when he is actually given the freedom to lead the team and is trusted by his teammate to be that guy ie get him on the ball often, he’ll shine; of this i have zero doubt, Hazard is an elite talent.
We can run the same systems we had with early Ronaldo except that instead of everybody getting out of the way when he gets the ball they have to be making runs into the box; and this stuff is brand new to the players who are used to the old system "pass to Cris and chill."
It's so weird, we have two players who are dynamite with the ball at their feet dribbling, and we keep playing the ball into space for them. Ironically, Bale is excellent running into a through ball and he's getting no minutes. We also seem to love crossing the ball to Benzema who heads the ball like he has a triangle for a head, yet Mariano isn't even called up and he's probably got the best leap and header in the team. I understand preferring some players over others, but minutes to Lucas and how our fullbacks play should mean Mariano, Jovic, and Bale should be options in attack or stop them crossing. Likewise, if we want Hazard and VJ (maybe even Neymar) at their best, play the ball to feet and quit the quick ball up top for them to run into. Benzema chasing a through ball is as sad a sight as Marcelo chasing down a winger breaking though.
Bale is not an option. He is not reliable and unprofessional. How desperate are we that we're trying to integrate him into our team after what he did this past season?
I get that, it's just ironic that's all. I am 100% behind the personnel change, but it should be a given to adjust playing style to new players no?
I agree on systematic change, but Bale isn't a good example of it. VJ, James, reliance on the same midfield, integration of Jovic, etc are legitimate points. If it was up to me, Bale would be in China right now.
Hazard buys Alejandro Sanz's 11 million mansion in Madrid. Benzema, Raul, Jorge Mendes will be his neighbors. https://us.marca.com/claro/futbol/r...d553ad422601d44178b4644.html?intcmp=MODCLAR02 1162087239410704385 is not a valid tweet id
