I think it’s important to remind everyone that England has been an utter shitland for our developing youth for a long time. Seeing a few players get minutes in the Championship does nothing to change my mind on that. That’s all I got. Carry on with your regularly scheduled arguments.
While there are other MLS DAs playing in overseas tournaments I thought mention here is noteworthy, as this is Inter Miami's first competitive endeavor. Also, Inter Miami is plunging ahead with all of the DA age groups. Because you can't win a World Cup by outsourcing development, and MLS needs to be incentivized to heavily invest in development. If they know that they aren't going to get to make money off the best players they have, they're going to lessen their investment in development, and our national team gets worse. Like it or not, we need MLS to be a more taken pipeline so that they can figure it out. Until then, we're not going to be competitive on a world stage.
The truth is that in a market as huge as DFW, probably the second best youth soccer market after Southern California...……………..there are going to be more than 2-3 good prospects at each position. Tough decisions have to be made. The kids FCD U17s had at centerback are also youth internationals. Carrera has caps with both Mexico and the US. Che has US caps and was reportedly just training/trialing in Germany. I mean, FCD was had a fantastic U17 season with the defenders they had. Would I like to be greedy and have every good prospect in DFW play for FCD? Of course. Why not? But ultimately, going to FCD would only be beneficial for JT if he was going to start. I can't guarantee that would have happened with FCD. Maybe he'd have beaten out the likes of Che. But who knows? FCD has turned away plenty of good young players for a myriad of reasons. Let's not forget that they turned down Chris Richards the first time...………..……….. Tomkinson going to Norwich (of all places) isn't a sign that the FCD evaluators made the wrong decision. In fact, maybe its an indication that they made the exact right decision. Maybe Tomkinson let it be known that he was hoping to go to Europe as soon as possible. Just like a Jamie Dunning or Charlie Kelman.. FCD is developing players for FCD. Not for Norwich. Sometimes FCD might in fact select a slightly lesser player that is committed to being an FCD player over a kid that only has eyes for Europe as soon as possible.
Terwege did not take a gap year. He graduated a semester early from high school. Practiced with FC Dallas first team for a semester to get him ready for UCLA.
Wasn't making a judgement on FCDs evaluation of talent because JT wasn't selected. Just adding a point of fact.
Here's a story about some Kentucky players getting picked up by various DA clubs. https://www.kentucky.com/sports/high-school/article233724827.html Ditto, but from Western Pa. https://pittsburghsoccernow.com/201...-players-to-join-mls-developmental-academies/
Kentucky went from having a Precourt-owned Columbus and two USL teams in Indy and Louisville in the area to now having Cincy, Nashville, and most likely St. Louis in the area. It might be the state with that has the largest scouting increase in the country in the next few years.
https://subinternacional.ligamx.net/ This tournament starts tomorrow. Dallas and Seattle are in it with Universidad Catolica and Atletico Madrid as well as 4 LigaMx clubs. The 4 LigaMX clubs have no 16 yos. The 4 international clubs have 16 yos. If you click the button that says registro in the middle of the page you can see the age breakdown of players for the tournament. If you click team icons on that page you can see age breakdowns by team. On top of the main page you can click on a team icon and get the rosters for tournament. Idk if any games are broadcast but the website is pretty extensive for a youth tournament so the may have highlights. It's all in Spanish but its figure-outable if you understand sports websites.
I heard that the games will be broadcasted, I'm waiting for someone to get me the link because I can't find it.
Here's Buzz' a preview of the FCD U17 team this year. Such as it is. These things are always a mystery at the start of the season. He seems to be guessing most of the time. Seems like quite a lot of new faces to me. #FCDallas U17s to take part in 2019 Liga MX Sub International Tournament https://t.co/pqTLEN1mEa Everything I know about the new U17s is in here. #DTID— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) August 14, 2019
Sounders vs Tijuana at 10 Mexico city time http://subinternacional.ligamx.net/cancha/playlist/99426/seattle-sounders-vs-tijuana
Depending on the players their opponents bring to the tournament, this could be rough for the 17s this year. Good chance they could get wrecked.
All indication is, this is a pretty weak group as compared to other FCD ages. The 03 group obviously has 2 high profile players in Pepi and Sealy, who have both moved on. The 04 group, while not bad overall, was well off the mark in their division last year. Elizalde is probably the most talented 04, but is a ways from being back from a knee injury. Gutierez is a great pick up from the Texans and I look for him to play a big role in this team. I agree with your sentiment that this year could be a rough one for the U17 side.
Shrug. We'll see. They could lose big in this tournament. But as far as the DA goes, its not how you start the season................but how you develop the kids & finish. And as always, the best U17s should aggressively be pushed up the ranks to the U19s and NTSC. Jonathan Gomez for instance, shouldn't play for this team.
Tijuana beat Seattle 3-1. Austin Brummett had the goal for Seattle. In the other early game, Pachuca beat Cruz Azul 3-1.
FCD lost its first game 1-0 and looked pretty pedestrian doing it. Not much offense or dynamic play from anywhere on the field. They need to figure out who is going to score goals for this team. FCD v. Seattle today and it looks like Seattle brought a very young team with a handful of 03s but the rest are 04s and 05s.
FCD loses to Seattle 2-1. No one on either team stood out much but Seattle had more dangerous chances. FCD had the one strike but don't recall any other shots on goal.
https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...aign=22066&hashid=KKzyfLDjtlWkffH1g6Ao4aF3IlM The new tiered system from the perspective of Crossfire Premier - confusing at best.
I’m not surprised Crossfire is the team complaining. From what I’ve seen, their teams have very average talent and don’t produce that many good players. They run up the scores against bad teams and use a smaller squad. They struggle against good teams from what I’ve seen. I have no problem with them being in the second division.
LA Galaxy U15 lost against Pohang Steelers in the quarterfinals of the Jeju Youth Tournament. The only player I really liked was Jonathan Santillan '04. He is a # 9 with good ability and athleticism. He was called to a U15 camp. The rest of the team didn't have talent
Found this in my Bundesliga reading today. I think it’s 05s listed as U15. Great field with Bayern Munich, Benfica, Juventus, FC Dallas, Dinamo Zagreb, Hamburg, FC Basel and a Chinese team. Semi finals tomorrow with FCD taking in Dinamo Zagreb and Bayern Munich taking on Juventus. https://fcbayern.com/de/amp/news/20...campus-cup-tag-zwei?__twitter_impression=true
