FYI: Pulisic's London debut for Chelsea. The champs return home ⚽️ Man City v. Spurs, SAT 12:30P ET NBC – Chelsea v. Leicester, SUN 11:30A ET NBCSN— NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) August 15, 2019
On the Guardian Pulisic gets a 7 with most of the team, below Kante's 8: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/14/liverpool-chelsea-uefa-super-cup-player-ratings Christian Pulisic Set up Giroud’s goal superbly by drifting inside and supplying a perfect, defence-splitting pass. 7 Same in The Express, except that Kovacic was quite bad according to them: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1165862/Chelsea-player-ratings-Liverpool-Super-Cup-final PULISIC 7 - However much Chelsea fans want him to be, he is not Eden Hazard, but he gave a pretty good impression at times. In The Mirror, Kante is also the best Chelsea player, but they are nicer to Zouma than others: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/liverpool-2-2-chelsea-5-18936401 Pulisic 7 - Impressive first start for Chelsea. Had goal ruled out by VAR but promising signs. Finally The Sun gives him an 8, again only below Kante: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...tings-kante-kepa-abraham-liverpool-super-cup/ Christian Pulisic - 8 His pace gave Chelsea a different dimension to what they had at Manchester United. A constant threat in behind, he provided Giroud with the perfect pass for the opener before almost scoring a brilliant solo effort that was ruled out for offside. Struggled with the pace in the game in the second half before being taken off.
Pulisic and Kanté provide Lampard with reasons to be cheerful Enjoy it while it lasts. The above article is in today's Guardian and is the first truly positive bit of reporting about CP I've seen. Being linked with Kanté is rather nice, too.
I read multiple sources every day and I am pretty much of a successful long term realist about all players. No inferiority complex whatsoever. The language in this article is particularly more pointed and optimistic, especially because it is not based on speculation, but direct observation.
after reading Suyuntuy's post I feel I need to point out that Kante played 120 minutes & not being fully fit. Puli had a marvelous match vs stinky poo & IMHO he really needs to be in the starting XI for Chelsea if they to achieve anytype of success. Super Frank Lampard is a smart man. I am sure he will figure this out.
When Rudi comes back Zouma or Christensen will be on the bench. And Timori is supposed to be rated highly.
This x 10, CP reminds me of Pedro more than any other player, including that they both get in trouble when they get too intent on beating opponents off the dribble.
Their forum posters seem pretty high on him. They want to see him develop further at Chelsea and think he should be the starter this weekend. Some of it is probably a honeymoon period with their new signing but he has played objectively well.
Yep, I was just about to mention that. He looked very limited in the 3-4 minutes leading up to him being subbed off. He did not want to run forward much at all. Right before he was subbed off he was noticeably hobbling. I don't know if it's an injury or just his typical "I've been hacked for 60 of my 70 minutes and am just getting too sore to go on at this point". I don't think he was hacked for 60 minutes, but he generally plays the role of frequent victim well.
When we have put out so many top talents that PSG buys one of our guys for an outrageous price only to have him throw a temper tantrum leading to the ultras singing mean songs, meanwhile; his toxic personality out shines his skill to the point that no major team “needs” him and PSG are stuck with him. This is when we will stop having an inferiority complex.
No, just ordinary rapid cycling. I suggest, however, that despite major advances in treatment of this disorder, nothing will help regular contributors to Big Soccer. From WebMD: Rapid Cycling in Bipolar Disorder
Let's just not do the YA thing where we have people including that goal in his year end totals in order to boost up his image. Perhaps after this season no such boost will be necessary... who knows. I do wonder how many high lines Chelsea will face this season.
The EPL allows for harsher play than other top leagues. Body checks & dangerous tackles are seldom punished. Puli has to master the art of avoiding injury, and soon.
A bunch. Lot's of teams in England play that way, especially at home. All of the top 6, and even Wolves and Everton will do that as well. At least he's faced a bunch of CONCACAF competition and has some experience playing against bunkered sides.
Yeah. This is by far my favorite take on CP for its optimism with a dose of English humor: http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/27549-22-christian-pulisic/?do=findComment&comment=1430583 "He needs to seriously bulk up, but otherwise he looks like Hazard from Walmart."
