I'm pretty sure that was Jordan Hamilton between Clark and Crognale, not Romario Williams. He was not overtly rude to my wife and I, but basically refused to say anything or make eye contact. He definitely stood out as having the worst attitude of any player there. I do sympathize, it wouldn't be easy to be "on" for so many people, but, like you say, it shouldn't be too hard to not be a dick in front of children. As someone else said, Porter was hanging out by the home locker room.
You are right. That was Hamilton and not Williams. Some people are more introverted and aren’t good with this sort of thing. Doesn’t mean they are bad people. Prime example of this is Neil Peart but like you said, shouldn’t be hard to not be a dick in front of children. I can’t say enough about the other guys though. Other than that one experience, they were all generally nice. Another thing I was surprised with was that there wasn’t a line for Keita. He’s probably the one player with the biggest upside for the team. Homegrown, National Team pool, etc.
Nice to know I'm higher on his list than you - Followed me about a month ago and has Liked many of my tweets. Love that he is doing this stuff - But it does come with a sense of responsibility to keep it PG on my part as I know he is watching.
I just want to say publicly - Thank you to KG. He hooked me up with a Josh Williams jersey for my 16 y.o. daughter who crushes on Mr blue eyes. To top it off Josh came over to us after game and signed it and crawled into stands to take pic. Dad of the year right here! Nice meeting you and the Mrs. KG.
Just another example of the terrible people on Bigsoccer Crew. Thank you for sharing your story. Will add to the catalog of dastardly acts.
Check your email STMs. The Club is offering up complimentary hotel rooms for a limited number of Crew supporters if they attend the Standing Room Only event in Cinci the night before Hell Is Real Part 2. The Standing Room Only event is a MLS/Heineken Rivalry Week branded event where you can "rep your club and join MLS for a night of soccer, music, art, gaming and more".
I'm not going to lie, if 1) we didn't already have a hotel for Sunday and 2) it wasn't RJD2 I wouldn't have bothered. It takes more than free Heineken and a life-size Light Bright to get me to take action. Though, we all must admit, the FO springing for free hotel rooms is something that would have been completely out of the realm of possibility under previous ownership groups. How's that for ambition?
Oh don't misunderstand me. The FO giving the free rooms is cool, and smart. Because they know their fan base is likely to eschew such a terrible MLS concocted event. It's the event itself that's pretty awful. Though, I'm happy for you to save some money and catch a DJ you #respek. That's cool. I was really just trying to give you shit to keep developing you're persona of an MLS loving fanboy, because, well, that's fun and I'm a dick.
My signed Poor Boy Lover Megamix: Your Face or Your Kneecaps from RJD2 is one of my favorite things to listen to and a prized possession.
A long time ago - 2005, actually - I was hanging out at the old High Five on a random weeknight, I want to say a Tuesday. At about ten (I remember because I was about to be a responsible young adult and go home), RJD2 randomly walks in carrying a box of records and asks the bartender if he could spin for a few hours. A resounding "yes" was given and after walking out to his car for another box of records and he proceeded to just have fun at the tables for the rest of the night. I'll never forget it. And that's one of my many "I love living in Columbus" stories.
Anyone else receive a survey asking about preferred start times? March-May and then July-August. Across Sundays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Weekends in March-May I choose 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Need the sun to warm the air. Wednesdays I picked 7:00 pm over 6:30 pm or 7:30 pm. July - August I selected 7:30 on Saturdays, 7:00 pm for Wednedays (6:30 seems too early, 7:30 we are getting too late, for the kids). Sundays I choose 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Anyone who is a current season ticket member and is part of the 'social' group (I think?) should have gotten an email about a pre-game tailgate hosted by the team prior to the Bridgeview Fire game. It went to my "promotions" filter on google- so check your spam filters. Just sending as an FYI in case anyone might have missed it.
Personally, I think the whole deal is offensive and dumb. Does anyone know of MLS doing this sort of thing elsewhere? Or is this just for dullwitted midwest clods? For example, does MLS throw little "let's be buds"parties when Seattle plays in Portland? When Houston plays in Dallas? When Montreal plays in Toronto? Maybe they do. I doubt it. In any case, who wants to party down with FCKy fans anyway? Based on what I observed at Mapfre a week ago, I'd rather spend the evening at my mother-in-laws house. This is the same clueless bunch of dummies who produced around 30 people who showed up wearing FCKy kit to sit in the Nordecke. Ask West Ham fans how that worked for them. So why is MLS doing this? They clearly want to promote the "friendly" in "rivalry". Are they still convinced, as they - and USSF - once were that Columbus fans are dangerous, drunken rageaholics just waiting to start fights? Call us CornFed Crips614. However it is, count me out. I will not be hanging out with a bunch of blue and yellow clad dolts for the sake of a free Heineken, which is pukeworthy beer I wouldn't give a dog. One interesting side note: FCKy is offering a 30% merch discount to anyone bringing in Crew gear to trade in on FCKy kit. The deal is available at the stadium until 5 pm on Sunday. 5 pm. An hour before kick off. Why wouldn't it be until game time,or forever for that matter? Isn't it in their best interests to get locals to turn in Crew stuff and get FCKy shirts, regardless of when it happens? Or could they possibly, just spitballing here, be planning on doing something with that stuff?
