It had to have been harder to leave that one lonely strip of bad grass then to just rip it all down to dirt

The sidelines will never survive, especially since the irrigation cannot reach it! I saw this firsthand on Sunday and was stunned. There was a clear 8-10 foot strip around the perimeter receiving no water.
Color me shocked that these are also the areas where the grass looks the worst currently.

Someone on the twitter link above had a good point. Teams in Europe are switching out the sidelines to turf or even stone dust and just having the playing surface as natural grass. Food for thought.

It can reach. It's not always watered during games. This is a multi-purpose venue. Other sports may need that sideline area to remain grass. In some instances, a larger natural area allows for the field to "move" if an area is particularly bad.

LAFC's field looked awful too. I'm not sure if they have an excuse.

Why cant we get even a quarter of the coverage the sounders get for a game? from the bottom of their press release announcing their expanded ownership group:

The club embarks on a two-match road stretch this week, beginning with a Wednesday matchup at Real Salt Lake (11-9-4, 37 points) at Rio Tinto Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle then heads to Southern California for a fixture with the LA Galaxy (12-11-1, 37 points) on Saturday, August 17 at Dignity Health Sports Park (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN2, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Fortunately, Audi Field is way too small for Aussie Rules Football. The Ellipse might work, though.:D

If you come in the Premium Entrance right next to the box office, you should get in the elevators without a problem. I've walked in thru the other doors and gotten in that way as well.

Audi Field tweeted this festival link out but now the tweet is gone.

Edit: Actually, looks like this has been advertised since July.

Given the condition of the political situation and the national team, I wonder how many people will try and defect.

    To Cuba.

I can't fathom what the ticket prices will be like on a Friday night in a "competitive" match, even against a D list opponent. Hard pass for me and the National Team these days. I've got no interest in seeing Sean Johnson lead the team out of the tunnel at our ground.

You think Sean Johnson will be captain of the USMNT that day?

But if Johnson's not in goal, where on the field would you place him?

I'm considering the college game on Labor Day, Virginia v Maryland. Did anyone here attend last year?

I would assume the two fan bases will be divided, but I'm wondering if there might be a third (neutral) choice. Information, suggestions welcome - thanks.
