Say what you want about this tournament but you can see how much it means to the kids. Sure, maybe a couple of the players will receive significant caps for the senior side but it is good to see them smiling and actually winning a tournament. A shame the Sub 20s faltered the way they did but I guess as they say you live and you learn. Congrats to the pibes.
Grats to our boys on getting the gold! First half was a little hairy but there was no doubt once they went up again.
When I came back from post office I have to squinted my eyes on the small streaming screen to make sure the 3-1 lead does not belong to the wrong blue/white stripes.
Stellar performance by Lamela in Spurs tough win over Aston Villa, was involved in the first goal, created the second, and overall his passing created many chances for the team. Hopefully he retains this form over the entire season, must surely start for Argentina if that’s the case. Really looking ahead to see him and Lo Celso link up under Pochettino’s guidance.
Sad news about Tata Brown. He passed away earlier today. I was always remember that wonderful interview where he said “Pasé por un millón de cosas difíciles y ¿Crees que iba a dejar de jugar una final del mundo por un golpe en el hombro? ¡Ni loco!" A warriors warrior.
Tagliafico scored a header from a corner and won a penalty for Ajax's recent CL qualifying game. L. Martinez also had a good game and seems to have a good understanding with Tagliafico. Those two players should definitely play together for the upcoming NT friendlies and Copa 2020 imo.
Where to play Foyth or Lisandro Martinez. Lisandro is also very accomplished on the ball. We need a ball playing centre back and Balerdi is also another of this trio. But yet to feature for Dortmund even on the bench behind Toprak. He needs to play as soon as possible. All three have experience at DM. It's going to be a crucial time to see where they develop. I would like to see Foyth at DM the other two stay at CB. The pibes also won the COTIF tournament beating favourites Spain in the process. As for Tata Brown. Very sad news. Sixty is no age at all. He was a warrior on the pitch and an Estudiantes legend. Rest in peace champion. Also assistant to Batista at the 2008 Olympics. I do wonder having done research into mechanisms of blood related inflammation that continual heading of the ball which was much heavier than now is a contributor to his untimely demise.
According to TyC, Lucas Martinez Quarta, Lisandro Martinez and Eduardo Salvio have great chances of being in the Sept. friendlies while Kannemann and Andrada will return after missing the Copa 19 due to injury. The ones that could leave are Di Maria and Matias Suarez.
Lamela started and scored a nice goal for Tottenham. Lo Celso came on in the 85th minute and looked pretty bad. Couldn't get on the ball and weak defensively. Granted it was only 10 minutes of play, and his first showing. I bet he has a lot to learn from the EPL. Should be good for his development, as long as he gets playing time.
1162769917294338048 is not a valid tweet id DYBALA GOLLLL https://t.co/UCR3Ss2i5A— JuveFC (@juvefcdotcom) August 17, 2019 Aguero also scored today but it was just a tap in and he was kind of at fault for the equalizer in the 2-2 draw.
Exequiel Palacios looking pretty good vs. Racing today. He gave two excellent assists that left our forwards one-on-one with the keeper and ended in goals, and it's only the first half. Apparently he's a lock in Scaloni's list for the upcoming FIFA dates, after having missed the CA due to a late injury.
Matias Suarez also has a goal and an assist to his name, but I know you guys don't really care about him here.. 1162874976761995265 is not a valid tweet id
True, let's call up Memedetto instead... looks like he got off to a good start in France Jokes aside, I don't necessarily think Suarez should or shouldn't be part of the NT, but the truth is he was part of the last roster so it makes sense to track his status in the NT thread ATM. He's not our savior, but I'd still take him any day over the likes of Gio Simeone, Pavon, or Correa. They may be younger but Mati has soooo much more technique and class. Obviously Messi, Lautaro, and Dybala should be ahead in the pecking order, but Suarez is severely underrated
That Jose Luis Brown video brought a tear into my eyes...the way he bit and tore a hole in his jersey to keep on playing.
^^^Correa WAYYY ahead of Suarez! I don't even know which Correa you are referring to, but both Angel and Joaquin have way more potential than Mati Suarez. They are 24 and 25!
Well Scaloni released the list for the friendlies vs. Chile and Mexico and there are plenty of talking points: Estos son los futbolistas convocados para la #SelecciónMayor y #Sub23 que jugarán amistosos en el mes de septiembre en fecha FIFA 👇 pic.twitter.com/oI9tqXYwSP— 🇦🇷 Selección Argentina ⭐⭐⭐ (@Argentina) August 18, 2019 - The big surprise is the inclusion of Adolfo Gaich, who was the top scorer of the Pan American games with 6 goals. The kid is a sub in San Lorenzo, which is why his call-up is a bit of a shock, but I guess they want to start molding him into the senior NT early. - Almost the entire defense from the CA squad has been wiped: while Otamendi, Tagliafico, and Pezzella remain, Foyth, Funes Mori, Casco, and Saravia have all been dropped. - Other CA 2019 squad players left out: Matias Suarez, Di Maria, Aguero, Messi (suspended), Guido Pizarro, Musso - Lucas Ocampos set to receive his first senior international call-up, as is Nicolas Dominguez. Perhaps more surprising is the inclusion of freshmen Figal (Independiente) and Mac Allister (Boca).. - Rojo, who isn't playing in England, has miraculously been called-up for a return for the first time since his abysmal performance vs. France. - Martinez Quarta and Montiel, who were both rumored to be called-up in recent weeks, are indeed part of the squad. Salvio, however, is not. - Palacios and Zaracho, who were originally going to participate in the last CA but were left out due to late injuries, return to the team. Lanzini, who previously underwent a similar situation at the WC, is also back. - Balerdi, who @Albiceleste2010 pointed out the other day isn't receiving playing time in Dortmund, another big surprise. Like Gaich, I take it Scaloni is trying to mold him early, but it's still kind of surprising that he's there while the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Cristian Romero, and Nehuen Perez are in the U-23 side. - Joaquin Correa returns. - Guido Rodriguez is still part of the team.... not sure why. As can be seen, a list of U-23 players has been released, as they prepare for the pre-olympic tournament in January. Supposedly they'd be playing a friendly vs. Ecuador. Not sure if they have another match lined up, but there are some interesting names there (the aforementioned defenders, Robertone, Ascacibar, Colombatto, Matias Vargas, Barco, etc)
