Was going to find a bar to watch this thing just to see what Pines did with Zlatan. Now I am thinking it isn't worth the price of the app I'll have to buy.
On paper, we should take a beating. Where are our goals going to come from? There's always hope, but...
I think our best chance is a low scoring game. Play compact and try to hit on a set piece or counterattack. If we can avoid conceding, put in Boateng early in the second for more speed on the counter.
Cord cutter. I got espn+, so this is one of the few I can't watch. What the hell Arriola!!! I was just about to abandon ship, and now I have to stay and eat stale garlic knots.
This is the best we’ve looked as a unit in a while. Guys are hustling and seem to be back to having fun.
Those who are wondering why the supporters' section at Audi Field is so quiet tonight, a good chunk of that section are choosing to remain silent/not drum, etc, in protest of what they perceive as a lack of direction by the club, lack of results, change, etc. #DCU— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) August 12, 2019
Defensive shape looks far better than last week. Maybe it is because this is the formation we have worked on since last season. The players just look more comfortable and seem to know their roles in the 4-2-3-1. My only concern is that I feel like Robinson is collapsing too much in to the center and leaving too much room on his flank. I get that it is a calculated gamble and he is trying to help out with defending Zlatan, but is still scares me. Amarikwa has done a decent job winning balls with his back to goal (he got the flick on for the goal, right?) and has also been a general pest/handful to deal with. Hopefully, he keeps it up. Let's see if they can hold on for another 45. Vamos !!
Maybe, but what happened to the basics we learned in youth soccer? "Clear it high and wide" and "when in doubt, kick it out"? Anything is better than turning it over in that position.
Thank goodness. I don't get it. We've had ton of injuries. The FO at least scrambled and tried to find adequate replacements. Rooney's departure sucks, but I don't think that the decision was DCU's fault. Come on. We've stuck with this team through much darker days.
Since I’ve been carrying out my own protest the last two seasons away from Audi Field, I wasn’t even aware of this latest protest. Seems it was for people ITK only. Surprised there weren’t any Iron Front inspired ejections tonight.
It was a return to Bennie ball. Cohesive team effort. Overall, solid team defensive organization from back to front. Hit 'em on the transition. Throw in a bit of Hamid and hope. Once again, not pretty but it was effective. Pretty much every player out there had a solid game. I definitely enjoyed watching Quincy mix it up and fight to the bitter end. Felipe quietly had a solid game, too. Finally, great to see Arriola and Titi get on the scoreboard. Hopefully, their confidence grows from this. Huge 3 points at home.
Felipe took our corners and all our free kicks. They looked good, too. Very good team effort. No subs, of course, because that's Ben's way. And Zlatan is every bit as good as he thinks he is.
