You did see where he said 'garage' and not 'garbage' yes? Just asking, as I read it the first time as 'garbage' as well ,and then realized it was indeed 'garage'. GAM and TAM don't expire, right?
It's gone official. $75k TAM for Niko #Crew96 acquires $75,000 in TAM from @HoustonDynamo in exchange for Niko Hansen.https://t.co/7nSWV2PeLl— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) August 8, 2019
It's definitely low but I'd say that him being on an expiring contract and him likely looking elsewhere due to his position on the depth chart when it comes to re-signing, means his selling price wasn't too high. At least it's better than a draft pick like we got for Bendik.
Garage is not garbage. Both were gone in a few months, might as well get something for them. I did see Kelyn Rowe was moved again. Always liked this guy and think wonder if we could have given him an audition. This year is shot, I assume all players are auditioning.
I think so. I believe you can still sign players who are free agents, that is, out of contract, at any point. Of course, that's a limited pool, but still pretty big: https://www.transfermarkt.us/statistik/vertragslosespieler Mario Balotelli, anyone?
And for a point of reference in the Niko convo, Rowe went for $75k TAM and an intl spot (plus some split of the budget charge). Rowe can enter Free Agency after this season. Seems Rowe garnered a bit more as he is an established MLS level player but not significantly more. Another player movement in this window, Houston picked up Christian Ramirez (a starting level striker IMO) for $100k 2019 GAM, $75k in 2020 GAM and $75k in 2020 TAM plus future performance based considerations. Ramirez is contracted through 2021. Seems to me that you need be under contract and proven starter presence to really garner the Garberbux.
2019 SuperDraft pick Rafael Mentzingen is the USL League One player of the month. .Rafael Mentzingen set the league on fire in July and has been named Player of the Month for his efforts. Nope. Epic reading comp fail by me. Apologies. TAM can certainly expire. And does. Teams get so much per season. I think the same goes for GAM. Though I believe future TAM/GAM can also be traded. Uncertain on what we got here.
Again, my beef is more with the lack of replacements. My reading comp fail was one letter. Yours appears to be a whole paragraph.
I think it's TAM that we're stockpiling, not GAM. In contrast, we seem to be be willing to spend some GAM. We bought Romario Williams with 100k of GAM. We got 50k of TAM as part of the Mullins trade with TFC. We traded Niko for 75k of TAM. We traded 50k of GAM for TAM with bridgeview. (what I'm not clear on is whether this TAM is expiring for us after this next window) Every move we're making involves getting more TAM. The strategy of using TAM vs GAM is something I don't fully understand, but here's my thinking: If you want to just generally have cash that you could apply accross many players, or to buy down a DP, that's what GAM is for, right? But if you're anticipating making a big signing in the next window, you stockpile TAM, because you can't apply GAM in combination with a player also bought down with TAM. And if you're using TAM to buy down a DP, then you have to also be acquiring a player of equal or greater value (aka, a new DP). I feel dizzy now. But I think this is all to help make one large signing in the off season, especially if that bridgeview TAM is expiring. (which is why they sold it to us for less than it should be worth, right?)
I haven't seen him play but, based on some USL match reports, he starts on the wing. He is listed as a second striker/CAM on transfermarkt.
This week's Cadden Watch update: Chris Cadden again played 90 minutes at right back for Oxford United as they won their home opener 1-0 over Peterborough. It can be pretty damned hard to see highlights of these games. But from the match timeline, Cadden seemed to be very involved in the game. Lots of references that implied he made quite a few forays into the attacking end; references to instances where he connected with a cross-pitch pass to change the point of attack and to delivering effective crosses; but also a lot of references to defensive plays. Take it for what it's worth, but he certainly sounds like an outside back who moves up and down the right side of the pitch, and that sounds a lot like the kind of wide defender Porter wants. Of note, too, Oxford United weren't exactly seen as contenders for much of anything in the EFL League 1 this season. But not only are they undefeated after two matches, they've gotten those results against two of the more well regarded clubs in that league. Here's how the Telegraph saw Oxford and the clubs they've played so far (Sunderland, away 1-1 draw; Peterborough, home 1-0 win) in its pre-season review: Any way you slice it, it's been an impressive early season performance for Cadden and his short-term Oxford United teammates.
Not to be a braggart, but I received this weekly edition of the Cadden watch in person at the tailgate. Yes, Church Lady, it is special.
