Overrated doesn't mean the player isn't higher than good / great. Obviously Pele is a legend ... just that many people are saying he isn't GOAT anymore so thus, overrated. Zidane for me is overrated. I'd probably put Ronaldinho and Puyol also a notch down.
Agree — Zidane is very overrated. Dinho has to be below R9, whom I personally rate very highly. Any Top-5 All-time list would most probably include Pele, Maradona, and Messi — whatever order you prefer.
Maybe Puyol is a tad high but he was a warrior and is a Barca legend.. We may miss him MORE than we miss Iniesta or Xavi ..

Huge bias towards 21st century players. But okay, lets assume that is the scope ... The bottom line is a mess. - You have players that "made-it" but then lost that drive and extra effort that got them to that level in the first place (Ozil, Bale). But others in the same group that work really hard and always trying to get better (Alexis, Griezmann). Complete opposites actually. Can't put those types in the same group.

Yeah, very good chance Messi would've sat out those 3 months anyway (just like he did last Sept - November). In any case, works-out brilliantly for Barca. He'll get a break in each of the first 3 months of the new season. And will only play (at most) 1 out of the 2 qualifying matches in March. Also skipping the U.S. tour this week.

Messi's toe probably hurt after hitting a staircase a little bit so he'd miss the US tour. As for Messi suspension, its basically more of an adventage for him. Missing meaningless games.
I was watching his goals this past season and he scored some truly incredible goals. But it has become casual for him. If it doesn't come with a CL trophy at the end of the year, the top individual prize won't follow. I'd imagine he won't win BdOr either.
agree with that. i think people just get used to messi. they just want messi win everything. also barcelona currently doesnt promote messi much anymore.
