There is a logical flaw in this analysis

If we are doing things on a cash basis by instalments - then you'd have to factor in instalment payments from previous years ;)

In reality the 45m "warchest" is pure BS. We know clubs don't operate on this basis.

He has been rehabbing from the operation, I don't believe he has had a full training session yet, so its almost certainly related to the operation.

Eddie Nketiah may be heading on loan to Bristol City. Emery had previously squashed rumors of Nketiah heading out but with the addition of Pepe (can play W & ST) as well as Bristol's reputation for developing young forwards, the option may be too tempting.

Rugani deal looked to be dead after have atleast 2 loan proposals rejected but now there are rumors that Juventus' sporting director is travelling to London today to work out a deal.

If Tierney ain't healthy maybe we should try to hijack Sessegnon's potential move...

Apparently we had a 55m bid for Upamecano turned down. I have to imagine that was before the Pepe deal when we realized we weren't going to get anywhere close to what we would have to pay for a CB, and put that money into our attack instead.

Pepe, Saliba, Upamecano, Tierney, and Martinelli would bring our total spending close to 200m, which is insane, even if a lot of the payments are staggered over time.

Man, that's a lot of money for a 20 year old French lad. hopefully we have a few other targets like him we are still in the mix for.

I like the idea of investing in another young-ish, athletic CB who can come in and compete for a place in the squad vs. a 1 year loan or signing a slower, veteran like Cahill for a season.

Assuming Kos and Mustafi are out of the picture; Sokratis will be 32 next season. Monreal will turn 34 this season. Even if Holding becomes our first choice CB of the future, with Chambers, and Saliba in tow, we'll need bodies to replace Sokratis and Nacho.

I think we're better off buying someone this season and bedding them in, vs. having two new recruits (Saliba and . . .) joining next year.

If the prices are this high now, they won't be any cheaper in 12 months.

Final thought: If we're bidding 55m on a 20 year old CB, I have to think Mavropanos will be offloaded when healthy. He's done at Arsenal.

If we are willing to pay 55m for Upamecano, I'd think a bid for Ruben Dias would be in order as well. Worst case with him, his release clause is said to be around 55m.

Also seeing a rumor that Wolves offered Juventus 30m euro to buy Rugani. Curious if Juventus may be willing to cash out vs a loan deal?

Do release clauses have to be paid in full?

I think technically, yes. But you could offer to purchase him for the same value and pay it in installments.

Not sure how legit the source but seeing an Arsenal blog page that is claiming Juventus want 50m for Rugani and Leipzig want 70m for Upamecano.

Deal agreed with Bordeaux for Koscielny, and he is having his medical tomorrow.

    Good riddance.

He's one of my favorite players and I am extending the benefit of the doubt to him in this case until further notice because it also conveniently fits with all my priors lol

I don't think he does this unless he somehow felt betrayed. My lasting memory of him will be the game he put Messi in his pocket.

    Laurent Koscielny.

I'll never forget the Barcelona game, the day you first showed us the boss you would become.

I'll never forget when you and Per hoisted the FA Cup together.

And I'll never forget the Athletico game, the day you crumbled into a heap of jelly, pounding your fists into the ground, knowing full and well that you had lost out on your last chance at a World Cup, a cup your team would go on to win.

Because of all you gave to Arsenal--and your country--I am disappointed in how it came to an end. I'm sure you are too. Life doesn't always have a dream ending. Best of luck to you.

    Rumors read in order:

    1) Kos out the door.
    2) Arsenal negotiating the sale of Mustafi
    3) Sheffield United want Chambers on loan.

That would leave Arsenal with Holding, returning from injury, Sokratis, Monreal, and Mavropanos.:confused: If these rumors are true, Arsenal would need to bring in at least two CBs before Thursday. Since it is unlikely that Arsenal will bring in more than one new CB, as hard as it may be to accept, I'm not sure Arsenal sell Mustafi and if they do sell him, they certainly won't send Chambers out on loan again.
