Look at it another way. If Arsenal spent 10m on a 21-year-old DM from League One, how would you feel? Bielik was on the last year of his contract. Sounds like he didn't want to extend and go on loan again (probably Arsenal's best move). Selling a player that never got 1st team football for 10m seems like good business, all things considered. I doubt this is another Gnabry situation.
By that (I think) you mean Bielik won't turn out to be a very good player. Because other than that, its exactly the Gnabry situation.
Right. I think Bielik can improve and may be sold in the future for more than 10m. But I don't think this is like Gnabry where he was given away for nothing and within 2 years he's worth 10 times what he was sold for.
Little known fact,* Zaha was an excellent CB in his youth. *Little known because I just completely made it up.
I'm no expert on Bielek but it seems a bit early to cast him off. However I heard reports that he said "if you're not going to play me, sell me". Let's just pray he doesn't end up being another Gnabry debacle.
Huh? We just bought a similar player in Pepe, and for huge money. Why would we buy Zaha at this point?????
??? Zaha is redundant at this point, if they have another £60 to 80m to spend I'll go crazy I'll go crazy if they spend it on Zaha and don't strengthen the defense.
I think they are different enough. Gnabry played for the first team at Arsenal as a teenager, Bielik did not. Gnabry was loaned to a PL side, Bielik was loaned to League 1. Gnabry's loan was a disaster and Arsenal sold low, Bielik had a great loan (and U21) and was sold high. Gnabry went to Bremen but everyone knew he was going to end up at Bayern. Bielik is going to Derby Co.
All you need now is an official sounding Twitter handle and you have got yourself a career as an ITK.
I agree and I like Xhaka. Just feel Emery is going to force Xhaka into the team when other combinations are working better.
Funny opening sequence on today's Arsenal Vision podcast. A rendition of "I Will Survive" basically about our summer business, especially Pepe.
I believe they want cash so they can fund a move to bring Neymar back to Barcelona. So the rumored loan fee is €25m. This like the Zaha rumors makes little to no sense. It creates a huge surplus of offensive players without addressing the defense. In addition, Nelson would see absolutely no game time this season and could end up leaving like Gnabry.
This is the most baffling rumor of the summer, and is picking up a lot of steam. Ozil probably won't start a lot of our games, and Ceballos came in with promises of game time, so where on earth do we fit in Coutinho? Josh Kroenke highlighted our CL wage bill on EL revenue as a problem, so why exacerbate that on a player we don't need at all? Add in a 12m loan fee, and this becomes even more bizarre. We probably need every penny we can scrounge together to close out the Tierney deal and bring in a CB, so why waste so much of it, and make a 2 year commitment to Coutinho?
