Thanks! This satisfies my curiosity of why we loaned out Okford. In fact either one of Felipe or Bersano can now be moved down to the supplemental roster as they are both making the senior minimum wage (~70k). Minor nit though is that the mls roster page doesn't yet show Fierro - so once they correct Bersano's double entry and move one of the aforementioned players down to the supplemental roster we will have exactly one open senior roster spot. So once Magnus gets his green card Rios will fit on our roster.
I think we would need to buy him down $270K. However it would be TAM we would need to do this because he makes over $150 more than the league max. If he were $150K or less over the max we would need GAM. You've got to love MLS' salary cap rules!
Would Wondo really agree to take a pay cut at this point in his career when he only has 1 or 2 seasons left?
Next January or 6 months from now, he will be 37 and in 2021 he is turning 38. Do you really think he will be playing at 39 years of age?
A 39 or 40 year old forward. I recall Preki winning the MVP at 40 and Carlos Valderrama walking around in the midfield at 41 but that's about all I can remember in MLS.....
Steady Teddy Sheringham played in the Prem until he was 41 and one more year in the Championship after that.
Francesco Totti was 40 and he didn't want to quit but Roma made him retire. He was seldom used his last 2 years though.....
Wondo has a ways to go yet. Roger Milla played professionally until he was 44. He finished with 405 goals.
Reddit had a tweet from Rios saying he expected to be in San Jose on Thursday or Friday. It was basically a goodbye to Racing fans.
Cool a 30 year old forward! He is already on the Spanish wiki.... https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrés_Lorenzo_Ríos Welcome Andrés Ríos!
It became a little bit long, but Thursday or Friday I'll be travelling to the USA, and I have a lot of hope. I wanted to know that league, I had one more year at Racing, but the option [in USA] was a little bit more extensive. A person also prioritizes the years of work"
He was a River Plate player from 2007-2013, with two loan spells in there, still it looks like he was actually with River Plate for 4 years. And I believe you were the one who made the comment about how many teams Almeyda has managed in his career so far, as if it was a negative.
Umm, unfair, I can admit I was wrong on everything I thought about Almeyda, but coaching is different from playing. If a player keeps getting loaned out and plays someplace different every season, it’s because the coach didn’t like him enough or he didn’t fit on that team at that time. When that happens so many times, well, look at Freddy Adu...
But he's 37 years old so that's over almost 20 years. When he signed with the Galaxy, I noticed his track record. He definitely only lasts 2-3 years at each club, but i think that's because he loses interest. But I think it's pretty much recognized that each club has gotten its money's worth out of Zlatan.
Almeyda has history with Rios. Both the player and coach know what they are in for. I’m pretty confident that Rios will not be a poor player in SJ.
