Wonder if they're going to trade in the Q-mobile? If @QMascot has taught us anything, it's that taking @lyft to @AvayaStadium is the way to go! 👍New users coming to tonight's match can enter Quakes74 to get $10 off their first ride to the stadium! pic.twitter.com/XWGS2lwGx8— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) June 26, 2019
I still think the Quakes need a double decker bus, painted in the team colors, that transports fans from downtown locations to the stadium.
Episode 19 Black and Azul Youtube broadcast scheduled for 8:30 PM Thursday June 27 We discuss the San Jose Earthquakes MLS team. This week we talk about the upcoming California Clásico against LA Galaxy. We will also include a discussion around the latest signings of Carlos Fierro and Andres Rios. This episode is hosted by Joel Soria, Alex Morgan, and Jamon Moore
Heavy focus on Quakes in the first 10 minutes of this week's Matchday Central. Some key points they hit on: -Tommy Thompson -Wondo leading by example -Vako hitting form -The roster changes made after four games -May be getting even better with Fierro and Rios https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/06/30/matchday-central-mls-week-17?autoplay=true
Lots of perks for 2020 season ticketholders, including free away game tix! https://www.sjearthquakes.com/tickets/2020-benefits
Those are actually meaningful additions that will likely have me more happy to renew. Being able to exchange tickets for up to two games is great! It's nice to have the option to exchange just in case you can't sell them. The free away tickets is amazing. Do any other teams do that? I've been to a couple away games and plan to do more. Would love to go to MN next year.
Obviously I don't want a price increase, but if they do they need to get us a 3rd DP who we can reasonably expect to significantly increase the quality of the team. If we get that I will start thinking about the cup.
Episode 21 Black and Azul This week we talk about the Quakes on a point streak, their upcoming match against the LA Galaxy, and the results in Gold Cup, Copa America, and the FIFA Women's World Cup. This episode is hosted by Charles Wollin, Joel Soria, and Alex Morgan. One of the striking highlights in this episode is the remarks made by Almeyda at the 11:00 minute mark:
"Armchair Analyst: Grading all 24 MLS teams at midseason" (MLSsoccer.com - Thursday, 7/11/19) _______________ San Jose Earthquakes: A- Here is the working theory I've always had about MLS: Ten percent of the players are just never going to make it, no matter what. Five percent of the players are good enough to succeed anywhere. And the other 85 percent need the right coach, with the right teammates in the right situation. I'm taking what Matias Almeyda has done as proof of this theory. LOOK UPON THIS FOR IT IS BEAUTIFUL: The Quakes are must-watch IMO pic.twitter.com/EgUIJ3QI0L— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) June 27, 2019 Almeyda took the sad-sack bunch that registered a league-worst 21 points last year, made minimal roster moves, and has San Jose playing some of the prettiest and most effective ball in the league. At this point I'd be surprised if they don't make the playoffs. I can't name a single player from 2018 who's not playing better in 2019. It's remarkable, and it's a testament to the power of coaching. Invest in the right one, and it can be like getting 25 new players. The 85 percent can become the five percent. Even the most optimistic Quakes fans I know didn't see anything like this coming. What they could’ve done better: What would this team look like right now if they had a Blessing or Monteiro or Pomykal-style destroyer/playmaker? Oh my God is that what Almeyda is going to turn Gil Fuentes into? Because I'd kill for Gil Fuentes to become that guy! _______________ GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

Lengthy article with tactical analysis of Matias' Quakes from The Athletic (behind paywall). https://theathletic.com/1079661/201...almeydas-tactics-and-mls-should-be-on-notice/
Must be an incredible experience for the team to adapt this new system and see all their hard work bear fruit so dramatically.
"NEWS: Earthquakes to Host Gamer Night on August 3 vs. Columbus" (SJEarthquakes.com - Wednesday, 7/17/19) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Circa 2016: . . . the Buffalo Bisons have decided to hold a Keep Brady Suspended Night. The team is celebrating Tom Brady’s four-game suspension with a few special features at the game on June 11 . . . If your name is Tom or Brady, you won’t be allowed to watch the first four innings. They will let you in the ballpark, though, so it’s up to the honor system. Fans who bring a properly inflated football to donate to local youth programs will receive buy-one-get-one-free tickets. Fans are encouraged to bring un-destroyed cell phones to donate to charity. The scoreboard will feature videos of “some of sports’ greatest cheaters” and a special tribute to Bill Belichick. Because Brady’s footballs weren’t inflated to 12.5 psi, the Bison are offering a 12.5% discount at the team store. https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2016/06/01/buffalo-bison-tom-brady-suspended-night-promotion

Interesting comment from Zlatan heading into the big game between the Galaxy and LAFC. “The most hyped derby I have played is El Clasico. The most intense I have to go Italy. Milan- Inter, those were good games."
