Makes me happy to see that the John Waters pencil moustache still has some fans among the younger crowd.

Probably not the forum to say this, but if Greg wants an inverted full back so bad just put Dest on the left

Dest will be gaining a CONCACAF teammate soon. Announcement of Edson Alvarez should be expected soon. Naturally a CB, who, as we saw in the GC final, has been playing DM. He has also played RB in the past, hopefully he doesn't block Dest's path there

  8. They are a bit overloaded with CD's, who also can play backs, like Kik Pierie, with alot more experience and clout to claim a spot in the team.

“I was in touch with Ajax about a player that possibly could join them,” former US under-20 assistant coach Dave van den Bergh, who played for Ajax in the 1990s, told the Guardian. “And I asked, ‘Are there any other players in your system you know of that have American passports?’ They came back to me and said, ‘We have a kid in the under-17s who has dual citizenship, would you want to take a look at him?’”

And although Van der Bergh concedes Dest “can give you a little bit of a heart attack” when attempting to dribble his way out of tight spaces deep in his own half, he believes the teenager’s expressive style should be encouraged: “Ninety-nine out of 100 times he pulls it off. And we don’t want to take that out of his game; I think that’s what sets him apart.”

Nice Guardian article about Dest. Video clips showing him in action. I've become a believer: his dribbling skills approach those of Pulisic

With a lot of first-team players. I think this is a good sign, but it must be stated that a lot of players are still on break after the summer international tournaments.

It was poor awareness/technique by Dest to set up that handball. He drifted over too far toward the man with the ball who was guarded, leaving his own man. And he didn't open his body up to be able to recover. So when the pass was made he had to desperately flail to block and it hit his hand.

Hopefully this is the only blip on his chances of getting first team minutes.

I wonder how often one mistake completely changes that player’s season.
