We don't need to sell Baka and who knows, Frank could get something out of him. So could Makelele, who was touted as getting Baka to succeed at Monaco.

Zouma won’t go on loan. He either stays or is sold. Baka likely only goes on loan if it’s a loan to buy. Mount stays. Tomori should go but may stay. Chalboah will go.

i think that's probably accurate. maybe tomori goes on loan if lamps decided to keep zouma around. i could see that happening. i'm thinking tomori has a higher ceiling than zouma but is still behind him right now, so maybe that's what happens. or, if we decide to go ahead and cash in because that spot is backup right now anyway, and tomori can provide the depth and get minutes here and there. i think their fates are linked essentially.

i'll be interested to see if lamps decides to keep baka around.
agreed that i think mount stays and i think he'll be worked in slowly (unless injuries force it, maybe him and barkley rotate at the beginning?

Yea I’m not sure where Baka will fit in. I suspect he’s given a chance. I could see Frank keeping a large roster until Jan then a mass selling.

As for Mount, I think he starts out the gate. I think he beats Barkley out.

Tomori I like very much from what I have seen of him last season. He is very fast and quick footed. Speed in a CB is a very useful asset these days. He likes to play the ball out from the back. I think Zouma is further along in his experience and development, But Tomori is closer to the composed CB that most top clubs are looking for these days.

He was Derby's POY last season and he even has a youtube video!!!! In the video you can get to about the 1mins 30secs point and see that he has even mastered the back heel so popular at Chelsea

We need to keep 4 on the season roster, so I think the Zouma, Tomori discussion is about who is the 4th with the Top 3 clearly being Rudiger, AC and Luiz (unless Lamp opens my email, subject: Sell Luiz for a bunch of money and use it for free Chelsea TV for all)

My Guess is AC starts at the start and when Rudiger, near untouchable for me now, healthy the question is whether Luiz or AC has earned the other spot. Unless Zouma can't earn a spot with Lamp, I 'd keep Zouma, he was very good for age here pre-injuries and good last year, and let Tomori be an everyday starter on Loan and replace Luiz or Zouma nest summer

I think Baka, Drink fighting for a spot to go with Kov and Kante as the more D or backish mf\s in a 4-2- or a more D oriented 4-3- or 4-1-2- and we keep a younger player and loan the rest, though we may keep both Baka and Drink first half of this season. I think Jorginho now will be fighting with the more forward CM's and am's but I coul see a Kante Jorginho 4-2-, which worked for the 90-120 minutes it was tried early last season

i like AC [23] a lot. I like Rudiger [26] and I like Luiz [32]. I have to say that Tomori [21] is faster than all of them. Zouma [24] has had a season at Everton starting every game, don't think he would be willing to come back to be 4th choice CB.

Tomori as 4th choice CB makes more sense. 21 and he was the Derby POY.

Swansea potentially in on a loan for Kasey Palmer. Maybe we can get him to sign an extension then go on loan. He’s got two years left. Honestly I’d be good with just selling him at 22 he likely won’t be good enough to break in but I know that’s not part of business model.

Despite the ban, this has been quite the summer, on top of Lampard returning as manager:

Mason Mount re-signs until 2024; looking forward to him contributing to 1st team
    Loftus-Cheek re-signs
    Kovacic signs deal
Pulisic comes in after sign and loan
    Morata sold

All pretty positive in terms of what we're able to do with a transfer ban. CHO should be next as I've heard from various outlets. But if he wants to go and we get 50m for him, I wouldn't be too upset.

I'm always confused when people come in w this kind of reasoning as if the paychecks we get for players mean anything to a fan unless it translates fully into us spending that on another player of the same quality which we've shown not to be the case at all over the last few years.

We just made a killing off of Hazard. Who cares about 50 mil? 50 mil for someone who could turn out to be another Salah or KDB? Pass.

Or a player who could turn into Marko Marin with an injury history. It's a lot of money for a player with still a ton to prove.

I think all the young players have a 'ton to prove' RLC is for me the best young player at Stamford Bridge right now but there are a few with potential for sure, Bayern Munich are no mugs, there is a reason they want to chuck money at CHO, its VITAL we keep hold of him if you ask me.

I always wonder what the criteria for a "young" player is and when do we stop calling a player "young."

Man that’s a tough one. It’s all kinda semantical but 22 is around the time their transitioning from that young tag. Prime age is considered what 25 to 28.

yea i think at this point we should be expecting RLC to be more than a young player. he's 23 right?

    He's 23, as is Christensen.

Mount and Pulisic are 20. Kova and Barkley are 25. Kepa is 24. CHO is 18.

So ship him off for money we neither need nor means anything to you personally because he might be injury prone versus keep someone who is now a pretty known entity, is making a speedy recovery and has the realistic potential of being a starter for years to come?
