16,446 at Red Bull Arena saw Club America vs Boca Juniors, another sign that the enthusiasm for Mexican club tours of the US is slowing down.

Dunno about that.. The game was a day after Mexico sold 64k in Arizona along with another Mexico friendly game sold out tonight in Chicago.. Add in that most of the “big” players from both teams are playing in Copa America or the Gold Cup, or taking a break after a full season followed by international competition and you’ve got a lot of incentive not to show up at the game..

Yeah I get all that, and also get that the Mexican national team is the most popular team in the United states. Having said that, I still feel like a club America visit to red bull arena would have previously sold out under any circumstances.

Maybe? Fans know a cash grab when they see them.. They at least want to see the stars playing some before handing over their wallets. That’s why friendlies generally require certain players play a certain amount of time..

Average attendance for 3 major world tournaments:

    Gold Cup: 33,651(double headers helped)
    Copa America: 30,665
    Women's World Cup: 21,756

also African Cup of Nations is at 14,933 right now, but that might go up.

    So always fun to compare:
    Gold Cup Final 62,493
    Copa America Final 69,986
    Women's World Cup Final 57,900

Atlanta United regular season game: 68077 :)

EDIT: The Copa America average doesn't include final - will update later for completeness.

Copa America was 9k under official capacity, though I don't quite understand maracana capacity. It always looks packed, with wildly different numbers announced.

They restrict capacity to give seats for the press , officials, and a lot of leeches.

I think Maracana's official seats are around 80K. Depending on the game it fluctuates

The announcer on the English broadcast said 11k also got in free at the Copa final. Usual group of sponsors, officials, connected and people who worked the match. 69k chumps paid.

So Maracana uses paid attendees count? That's super rare. Makes sense though - Olympics final only had 65k announced and it looked SUPER packed. Like people sitting in the aisles type of packed.

Cavalry FC is based in Calgary. The CPL is not big on city names in their team names. Edmonton, using their legacy name, is the only one that has it outright. HFX Wanderers is close to having Halifax. The York in York9 is really more of a regional name.

In the non-MLS involved Canadian Championship game HFX Wanderers/Ottawa drew 6,213.

No. The friendly in May with Hertha Berlin was about 17K, and that match was part of the season ticket package.

Last night was not, so 12K isn't too bad. The first Open Cup match with SKC was under 10K.

Galaxy to build "safe standing" section where the ACB is currently (for next season). Also the grass berm will be back after the Chargers play their last season at the DHP. Also some new bars I guess being built for the supporters over there.

Have to give credit for AEG for the constant investments of millions and millions of dollars of upgrades at the Home Depot Center in recent years. Last match I enjoyed a cool new double decker bar that exists both in the mezzanine and behind the upper deck bleachers (where my seats are).

I went to a game there once and really like that stadium. The improvements sound good, I'd like to go back.
