Yeah I'm little concerned about scoring. The US is sure to bunker like Haiti and Costa Rica, and we are without all of our bunker beaters. Pizarro is simply not good enough. I still say a 2-1 victory.
The issue with this team isn’t creating, because they’ve shown they can create chances. The problem is that they don’t take shots and do too many extra passes.
I doubt the Nads have the same stamina and athleticism as Haiti. Haiti was pretty well conditioned pretty much all game and still had energy to counter hard in the late parts of the game as well. The nads will bunker for sure but they will try to possess the ball and attack more than Haiti. That will play into Mexico’s hands imo.
I see it very even out...........it will do down to who messes up the most at the very end and have that other team take advantage of it. Im concern with the corners because Mexico has taken a million and they have not done anything with them. The U.S always kills us on these and that is what im concern about. Overall, it will be a very tight and close game.............and like i said its the one who messes up the most towards the end that will lose. With that said i almost forgot........lets go Mexico!!!
It's a play on words. USMNT fans/supporters are known as Nats, and you know what gonads are. Put two and two together, you have your answer.
Flying out to Chicago today. Anyone else going? All of my Iowa family and I are attending this final.
Hoping pizarro wakes up this game and shows what he has proven he can do on the club level Raul has looked a little nervous or lacking confidence these last few games too. These two will need to come through because its definitely not coming down the fullback's garbage crosses
I’m not sure one can say that Mexico has been clearly better than the US this tournament. Both teams have been a bit underwhelming for different reasons and based solely on the semi final games, the US left a “better taste.” I think it will be an even game and I wouldn’t be surprised if either team wins.
I'm torn about this, because the US started shaky but has gotten better throughout the tournament however the level of opposition has decreased as they played on. Mexico on the other hand started strong doing what they are supposed to do against the teams out in front of them but had a more complicated path to the final making them look underwhelming. Idk, that's my current view.
It tends to happen to Mexico a lot in Gold Cups. They start off strong and have missteps in the knockout rounds. In 2011, Guatemala scored first and kept the lead for an entire half until Mexico scored and then came back, then Honduras would take Mexico to extra time in semi finals. We know the teams weaknesses, poor finishing and defensive lapses. Improve on those and we win. Something positive of these last two games is that it seems that Raul Jimenez is starting to understand his Wingers and midfielders more.
Even game imo. Individual brilliance is our only chance if the nads bunker easy win for them (2-0 nads).
